What Is Plunderstorm?

Plunderstorm is a limited-time battle royale event where players are taken away separately from their characters in the original World of Warcraft game, whether it is classic, retail, or Season of Discovery, and creates a new classless system where you build your abilities from scratch.

Players are taken to a version of the Arathi Highlands andbattle against 59 other players to be the last one standing. The map is quite small, and there is also a storm that damages all the players inside it. The storm will get larger and larger, which will eventually lead players to fight in a specific area until one remains.

Everyone gets shot out of a cannon andlands at a random location. You still have the option to choose where to go while gliding, but it is very limited.

Once you enter the battlefield, your goal is to strengthen your character by defeating random mobs, collecting skills and abilities, leveling up your character, and plundering other enemies.

When you get strong enough, you’ll want to strategize and try to take fights at an advantage. You want to survive as long as possible while having enough power to have a chance at becoming the final champion.

Can You Play Plunderstorm Without Buying Dragonflight?

When you have a subscription, you already have access to World of Warcraft: Season of Discovery, World of Warcraft Classic, and World of Warcraft retail (excluding the current expansion).

All you have to do isinstall the live version of World of Warcraft to play Plunderstorm.

you’re able to install the game without having a subscription or buying the game. Technically, your account will be tagged as a trial account where you can play World of Warcraft up to level 20. If you are thinking about playing Plunderstorm, you can install the game first before paying for a subscription.

Is World Of Warcraft: Plunderstorm Worth The Subscription?

Well, that is a tough question becauseliking battle royales isn’t a big factor in this one. The biggest difference between Plunderstorm and other battle royales is thatyou are forced to fight NPCs or mobs to get access to loot and level your character, rather than just picking up loot randomly on the ground.

If you come across enemy players who have fought a lot of mobs, their skills are way better, especially their overall damage and health because they probably have more levels too. You’ll always fight at a disadvantage if you don’t regularly fight.

This feature is a good and a bad thing. It is great because this mechanicprevents players from campingand forces all the players to be active as much as possible. The bad thing is that theloot becomes more scarce and luck-based.

If this interests you, it should be worth it since the length of the event exceeds the length of a monthly subscription.

If you have friends who don’t play World of Warcraft, this is a great time to get them into the game by showing them events like Plunderstorm. Most players don’t have the time to play an MMORPG, but the battle royale is simple enough to lure some friends to play with you.

How To Queue For Plunderstorm Matches

The Plunderstorm event is separate from the game, andyou don’t have to download anything besides the live World of Warcraft version. Technically, the whole event is a patch where you open a different phase of the game within the same game. Open up your World of Warcraft client and log in until you reach the character selection.

Look in the upper-left corner, and you’ll see two different versions of World of Warcraft.Click the World of Warcraft: Plunderstorm icon and you’ll immediately get transferred to the Plunderstorm eventwith a different character selection menu.

If you play World of Warcraft: Season of Discovery or Classic, you can still play Plunderstorm since you have a subscription. You just have to open the game from the “Live” World of Warcraft version. You can see this by clicking the game version drop-down bar in your Battle.net client.

In WoW: Plunderstorm, you start with a basic character with your current Battle.net name. Then, you’re able to customize your character by choosing using WoW’s original character creation tools and settings. You can choose your race, but there won’t be any classes.
