Special Conditions are viable tools in the world ofPokemon TCG, although they may not always appear in meta decks. For the Klawf Hisuian Electrode Deck, however, Special Conditions such as Burned and Poisoned are essential to successful gameplay.

In this deck, rather than aiming to inflict these effects on your opponent’s Pokemon, the goal is to give your own Active Pokemon Special Conditions. This allows both of the main attackers, Klawf and Hisuian Electrode, to greatly increase their attack damage. Klawf Hisuian Electrode Deck Key Cards

This deck may be one of the only decks wherethe main goal is to inflict as many Special Conditions as possible on your Active Pokemon. In the Klawf Hisuian Electrode Deck, the main attackers of the deck grow stronger with Special Conditions.

As a result, the focus of the deck is employing cards that provide Special Conditions while navigating Weaknesses and attacking using both Klawf and Hisuian Electrode V. There are different cards available to apply Special Conditions, but Brute Bonnet and Spicy Seasoned Curry are the most popular.

Pokemon TCG Hisuian Electrode V Card

Klawf

Klawf is the main attacker in the Klawf Hisuian Electrode Deck, specifically its Unhinged Scissors attack.

For two Colorless Energy, or a single Double Turbo Energy, and with no Special Conditions, this attack will only do up to 30 damage. However, once Klawf develops at least one status condition, the effect of this attack allows for it to do an additional 160 damage, for a damage total of up to 190 (170 with a Double Turbo Energy attached).

Brute Bonnet, from Paradox Rift.

As a Fighting-type Pokemon, Klawf will apply Weakness to most Electric Pokemon. This includes those such as Raikou V and Miraidon ex.

Hisuian Electrode V

As a Grass Pokemon, Hisuian Electrode V hits for Weakness on many Dark-type Pokemon, making it a viable attacker. Its Tantrum Blast attack can be performed for no Energy, and it does 100 damage per Special Condition affecting this Pokemon.

Although Pokemon can only have up to three special conditions at a time, this allows for Hisuian Electrode V to attack for up to 300 damage—all without attaching any Energies. When applying Weakness for Dark Pokemon, this attack can do as much as 600 damage, effectively Knocking Out every Pokemon card in rotation.

Pokemon TCG Spicy Seasoned Curry Card-1

Some Special Conditions can never occur simultaneously. Only Burned and Poisoned may be applied at the same time, either with each other or other Special Conditions. A Pokemon can be Burned, Poisoned, and Asleep, but it will never be Asleep and Confused.

Brute Bonnet

Brute Bonnet’s unique Ability,Toxic Powder, allows for it to make both Active Pokemon Poisoned once per turn, so long as it has an Ancient Booster Energy Capsule attached.

Pokemon Checkup occurs in between each turn. As your turn ends, Pokemon Checkup occurs, then it switches to your opponent’s turn, and vice versa. As a result, by the time it becomes your turn once more, a Poisoned Pokemon will have taken 20 damage.

Pokemon TCG Radiant Hisuian Sneasler Card

In other decks, this may seem a flaw. After all, a Pokemon that is Poisoned will take 10 damage during Pokemon Checkup. However, this provides an easy way to inflict Klawf with the necessary Special Condition to attack with Unhinged Scissors at its maximum power. When paired with Spicy Seasoned Curry, you can inflict two Special Conditions on Hisuian Electrode V within a single turn, allowing it to do up to 200 damage.

If Radiant Hisuian Sneasler is in play, your opponent will put 2 damage counters on their Poisoned Pokemon instead of 1.

Spicy Seasoned Curry

Spicy Seasoned Curry is an Item card that causes your Active Pokemon to become Burned. In the process, it also heals 40 damage from that Pokemon.

Because this is an Item card, Spicy Seasoned Curry can be played along with any number of Item cards per turn. As a result, it can easily be paired with switching options, allowing you to change between Klawf and Hisuian Electrode V while maintaining the Special Conditions needed for your Pokemon to attack.

Klawf Hisuian Electrode Deck Strategy

The Klawf Hisuian Electrode Deck offers flexibility. This important characteristic allows you to tailor your gameplay to your opponent’s deck, a feature especially beneficial in best-of-three matches. Because this deck plays Squawkability, with its Squak and Seize Ability allowing you to discard your hand in favor of drawing 6 new cards on your first turn, this deck can be viable going first or second. However, first is often less preferred, not because of the lack of ability to play a Supporter, but because you will be unable to attack.

If going second, an ideal first turn will have you attacking with Hisuian Electrode V and doing at least 100 damage, if not 200. Because it requires no Energy to attack, you will only need a way to inflict one Special Condition on this Pokemon. This can be achieved through Spicy Seasoned Curry or Brute Bonnet with an Ancient Booster Energy Capsule. The latter may be more difficult, as it requires two cards as opposed to the single Item.

Forest Seal Stone, when attached to V Pokemon like Hisuian Electrode V, can help you find the missing card needed for a successful first turn, whether you go first or second.

The Klawf Hisuian Electrode Deck offers ample ways to prepare your Bench on your first turn. It plays several Pokemon search options, including Nest Balls, Battle VIP Passes, and Ultra Balls. Town Store allows you to search for a single Pokemon Tool per turn, helping you locate Forest Seal Stone, an Ancient Booster Energy Capsule, or other key Tool cards.

After the first turn, the Klawf Hisuian Electrode Deck focuses on maintaining the right amount of Special Conditions on your Active Pokemon and attacking. Since both Klawf and Hisuian Electrode V apply Weakness on popular Pokemon Types, utilizing Switch Carts to apply maximum damage and heal damage counters from Special Conditions is vital.

Klawf Hisuian Electrode Deck Common Threats

The Pokemon played in the Klawf Hisuian Electrode Deck may be powerful, but they all have significantly lower HPs than many attackers in common decks.

Because of this, this deck is easily threatened by decks that can quickly ready up large amounts of Energies and attack for high damage. This includes decks such as Gardevoir ex, Mew VMAX, and Lost Box with Giratina VSTAR.

Lost Box decks in particular offer a unique challenge, however. In a Lost Box deck, the goal is to utilize as many Comfeys as possible in the beginning, due to its Flower Selecting Ability allowing you to draw two cards, keeping one and Lost Zoning the other. While this may not seem like a problem in itself, issues arise due to the variable switching options available in Lost Box.

Most Lost Box decks play a combination of Switch, Switch Cart, and Escape Rope, along with the ability to attach Energies and retreat. When an Active Pokemon retreats to the Bench, it loses its Special Condition. This can make it difficult to utilize Radiant Hisuian Sneasler and Brute Bonnet’s Abilities,as the Poisoned Special Condition will be healed upon switching.
