Dr. Ratio is a five-star Imaginary Type character inHonkai: Star Railfollowing the path of the Hunt. He excels in dealing strong single-target DMG by unleashing a flurry of hard-hitting follow-up attacks, if certain conditions are met.
Aside from follow-up attacks, his playstyle also takes advantage of debuffs applied to enemies in order to increase his DMG output. He may be a free character, or at least he was for a mlimited time, but his combat capability is far from overwhelming. Know what it takes to master Dr. Ratio’s kit and he might just give you a passing grade.
6Pair Him With Characters That Apply Debuffs
After using Dr. Ratio’s Skill, Intellectual Midwifery,he has a 40 percent fixed chance of launching a follow-up attackagainst his target for one time. Foreach debuff that the target enemy possesses, the chance of triggering this follow-up attack will increase by 20 percent.
After unlocking Dr. Ratio’ssecond Major Trace, Inference, his Skill canapply a debuff to an enemy target.This debuff reduces the target’s Effect RES by 10 percent for two turns.
This follow-up attack is how Dr. Ratio will deal most of his DMG, so ensuring that you trigger it is important.Characters that can apply debuffswill be his best teammates, as they can increase the chance of triggering Dr. Ratio’s follow-up attack.

5Use His Ultimate To Guarantee His Follow-Up Attack
When you use hisUltimate,Syllogistic Paradox, Dr. Ratio willattack a single target enemy and apply two stacks of Wiseman’s Folly statusto them. When your other party members attack a target afflicted with Wiseman’s Folly, Dr. Ratio willconsume one stack and automatically launch his follow-up attack.
This allows you to spam Dr. Ratio’s follow-up attacks, regardless of the trigger chance, for two consecutive times, and without needing to wait for his turn. After you use Dr. Ratio’s Ultimate on a target,focus your other characters’ attacks on that target to deal additional DMG.
4Use His Technique For An Extra Debuff
Dr. Ratio’s Technique summons a statue of himself. Enemies within a certain radius of the statue will get Taunted, forcing them to attack the statue instead of you.When you enter battle with enemies within the statue’s range, all enemies will have their SPD reduced by 15 percent for two turns.
This SPD reduction isconsidered a debuff,which contributes to Dr. Ratio’s debuff needs. With his Technique, as well as the Effect RES Reduction from his Skill, you can apply two debuffs on enemies from the start.
3Equip His Best Relic Set
With the release of Penacony came two additional Relic Sets, one of them being thePioneer Diver of Dead Waters, which is Dr. ratio’s best-in-slot set. The set provides the following effects:
ThePioneer Diver of Dead Waters set complements Dr. Ratio’s playstyle perfectly, as he wants to have debuffs on his enemies, and this set increases his DMG, CRIT Rate, and CRIT DMG when attacking debuffed enemies. This set can befarmed from Cavern of Corrosion: Path of Dreamdive, which is located in The Reverie (Dreamscape) in Penacony.
2Optimize His Crit Ratio
Balancing a characters’ CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG can be difficult, as it mostly boils down to being lucky with your Relic rolls. However, Dr. Ratio has a ton of CRIT sources, which make building him rather easy:
All of these combined can already provide up to31 percent free CRIT Rate and 54 percent free CRIT DMG, without any Relic stats orbuffs from other party members. With these in mind, optimizing his CRIT Ratio won’t be too much of a hassle.
1Take Note Of How Many Debuffs He Needs
When selecting Dr. Ratio’s Skill,an effect will appear on top of all enemies, which displays the chance of triggering his follow-up attackon specific targets. When a target has at least three debuffs, or if they’re affected by Wiseman’s Folly after using Dr. Ratio’s Ultimate, “100 percent” will be displayed on top of them, which guarantees Dr. Ratio’s follow-up attack.
For the other parts of his kit, it might be difficult to keep track of how many debuffs he needs to have on his targets to maximize them as there are no visual indicators. The requirements for his other effects are:
Since his follow-up attack is already guaranteed at three debuffs, you don’t need to achieve all the required number of debuffs for the other parts of his kit. Treat them more as a bonus rather than a necessity.
