Dragon’s Dogma 2takes you on an adventure with Pawns across a vast and dense map, imploring you to explore and test your mettle against fearsome foes. Every step you take is one step closer to your destiny, but sometimes, you want to have an extra layer of protection before running into battle.
With only one official save slot, every decision matters. If you reload the wrong save, you could lose hours of progress. Rather than risk wasting time backtracking and redoing everything, you can backup your saves to have copies of pivotal points in your journey. Here’s how to do it!

Difference Between Autosaves And Inn Saves
There are two types of saves in Dragon’s Dogma 2:Autosaves and Inn Saves. The autosave is your normal save, which allows youpick up where you last left off. Your Inn Save allows you tostart back at the last Inn you rested at, which can span between several hours of play.
Loading to your last Inn Save will overwrite your most recent autosave!

Camping will save over your most recent autosave, but stillrestore your party’s HP. You can save your game at any time by opening the menu and selecting one of two options:
You can return to the Title Screen without saving if you accidentally upset an NPC or made a regrettable choice.
How To Backup Your Save File
Backing up your save file gives youmore control over the gameand allows you to have a safety net in case you accidentally load your last Inn Save when you didn’t mean to, or if youoverwrite your saveafter making a poor choice.
This method is for PC only. If you have a console, you canuse a USB to backup your save filemanually and transfer it to your computer to keep in a safe place.
Backing up your save file is easier than you’d think, though it does take a little work and organization. Below is the location of your Dragon’s Dogma 2 save files:
The folder containsboth your Normal Save and your Inn Save, so make sure to copy the whole folder and paste it somewhere safe that you’ll remember. It’s best to make a note of what your progress is in the folder’s name to jog your memory if you need it.
If Steam continues to load the wrong save, it may be due to your cloud saves. Try disabling this feature before attempting to mess with your save file.
Use this method to keep your most important saves handy in case of an emergency. You can also do this to create several characters andstart a new gamewithout losing your previous Arisen.
