You’ll likely be taming numerous creatures throughout your time inArk: Survival Ascendedto help you out with everything, like fighting wild creatures and harvesting materials. This process involves finding a creature you like, knocking them unconscious, and then feeding them a favorite food until they’re tamed.
You don’t just want to feed any food to any dinosaur, though. Carnivores aren’t going to eat berries and crops, and herbivores don’t want any meat. Every creature has several foods they prefer based on their diet, but the pinnacle of these taming foods is Kibble. With Kibble, even the most difficult and time-consuming tames can be made easier.

What Is Kibble?
Kibble is avery special taming foodthat needs to becrafted in a Cooking Potor anIndustrial Cookeras opposed to being found by harvesting creature bodies or plants.
In return for having a long crafting recipe, Kibble cantame creatures quicker than almost any other foodgiven to them, provided that you’regiving a creature its preferred type of Kibble.

Feeding creatures thewrong type of Kibblemakes itless effective than their usual foods, and can evenreduce taming effectiveness.
You can alsouse Kibble as a regular foodfor any creature, though each creature will stillprefer a particular type and gain more foodfrom it, but therewon’t be any loss of foodfrom one they don’t like.

Kibble can bealmost twice as effective as a creature’s usual preferred foods, even compared toRaw MuttonorRaw Prime Meat.
Kibble may also berequested by baby creaturesaspart of their imprinting process, and they canrequest any type of Kibble, even ones they don’t prefer.

How To Get Eggs For Kibble
There arethree ways to get eggsfor your Kibble: fromwild creatures, having themdrop from tamed creatures, and bybreeding tamed creaturesyou own.
Mostwild creatures, such as Parasaur and Triceratops, willperiodically drop eggsas they exist and wander about the world, and you’ll befree to grab them if you see them, though yourisk aggroing the creature by grabbing the eggif it’s in a certain range.

You canuse a tamed Oviraptortosearch for and steal the eggs of wild dinosaurs, but you’llneed a good tameto helpdefend the Oviraptoronce it has the egg.
Thebest method for getting eggsis by having tamed and mate-boosted creatures together in a pen or near each other.

As long as afemale creature is mate-boostedbyanother male of the same species, it’llcontinuously produce unfertilized eggs, even if you don’t have mating enabled.
You can alsocombine this with having mating enabled, so you’ll get afairly steady stream of fertilized and unfertilized eggs for Kibble use and hatching dinosaurs.
Fertilized eggscan alsobe used to craft Kibble, so you canpurposefully breed low-level creaturesfor someextra fertilized eggsto use, so you don’t need to sacrifice high-level eggs.
Hesperonis, in particular, are special as they have a chance to produce a special Golden Hesperonis Egg if they kill and eat five fish.If theymeet this requirement, they’ll eithermake a regular egg or a Golden egg.

How To Craft Kibble
To make Kibble, you’ll firstneed a Cooking Pot or an Industrial Cooker, and you’ll want tohave your ingredients prepared ahead of timeto make sure theydon’t end up spoilingbefore you can make the Kibble.
Each Kibble type mustonly have its recipe’s ingredients in the crafter, or else you’llstart creating other thingsfrom conflicting recipes, such as Dyesand buffing food items.
For any recipe, including Kibble, one measure of Wateris theequivalent of one full Water skin,Water Jar,or Canteen.
Best Uses For Kibble
While Kibble isamazing for any creaturein the game, it’sespecially beneficialto give tocreatures that take a long time in between each feeding, such aslate-game herbivores, likeBrontosaurusandMammoths.
They’lleat food like berries, but they’llbarely add to its Taming bar, and that means you’ll bewaiting a long time for them to tame, and need a lot of food.
Some othercreatures that benefit from Kibble-tamingincludeGiganotosaurus,Mosasaurus,Quetzal, Basilosaurus, Woolly Rhino,Castoroides,Doedicurus, andParaceratherium.
This means itsTaming Effectiveness is going to go downslightly, and if itgets too low, youaren’t going to get many bonus levels, and this canhinder your ability to get strong tames, especially if you want them for breeding.
Kibble is thebest way to solve this issue, as acreature’s preferred Kibbleis going toprovide far higher taming progressthan any other food you may feed it.
For example, alevel 150 Brontosauruswith thebase taming speed of onewould onlyneed 22 Exceptional Kibbleandtake 22 minutes to tame.
While it’sless of an issue for carnivores, since Prime Meat and Raw Mutton provide a lot more taming progress than berries,Kibble can still help cut taming timesdownon many late-gamecarnivores like Plesiosaur and Rexes.
Compared to thesame Brontosaurusunder the same conditions butwithout Kibble, you would be looking at needingat least 284 Mejoberries, and it wouldtake anhour and 42 minutes to tame.
