OnceDondoko Island becomes available in chapter six, you’ll be free to travel between it and Hawaii following a short list of missions that introduce you to the island’s mechanics.
Once you’re finished getting acquainted after helping Matayoshi, Mukku, and Gachapin, you’ll be welcomed to your very own house on the island. Kasuga’s house is the key to managing his Livability, so get ready for some home renovations.
What Is Livability?
Livabilityis the system that dictates both thestatus of Kasuga’s house and his maximum healthwhile on Dondoko Island.
Dondoko Island does not carry over Kasuga’s healthfrom the rest of the game and instead offers an entirely new way of leveling up that aspect of Kasuga.
Essentially, the more youdecorate Kasuga’s house, the more livable it will be, and thusincrease its Livability.
How Do You Increase Kasuga’s Livability On Dondoko Island?
To increaseKasuga’s health,you’ll first need toincrease the Livability of his house.
To decorate Kasuga’s house,you must first craftyour furnishings or buy some from Matayoshi, so you have some decorations and other home amenities to place around the living room.
Once you’ve acquired some furnishings, head backinsideKasuga’shouseandselectthe"edit"option to begin decorating.
Select items from your bag to place them around the living room.
Each itemyou use to decorate the living roomwill add a certain amount to the house’s Livability– which will be indicated on the item – with thetotalLivabilityappearing on theright side of the screen.
You can also change thegeneralstyleof Kasuga’s living room, such as the flooring or wallpaper, but thiswill not affect the house’s Livability.
Fill your living roomwith as many chairs, decorations, sinks, or other items as you see fit. As long as the item fits, it willincrease the house’s Livability.
If you don’t care about visual appeal, simplycram the living room with items that reward the most Livabilitypoints to give Kasuga the biggest possible health upgrade.
How To Heal Kasuga
While you are inside Kasuga’s house,you can heal any missing heartsthat he lost while battling the dangerous Washbucklers.
To heal Kasuga’s heart, you must end the daybefore it gets too dark outside, and thus give Kasuga fewer hours to rest and recover.
If you don’t get some rest, thenKasuga will be exhaustedthe following day, and not recover all his hearts.
The more hearts you’re missing,the earlier you should end the dayto ensure that Kasuga fully recovers from his battles.
How Do You Expand Kasuga’s House On Dondoko Island?
To expand Kasuga’s house, you must firstrecruit Kenzoby helping Matayoshi to begin returning Dondoko Island to its former glory.
Once you recruit Kenzo and get a few days of work done on the Island to increase its Resort Rank, he will offer toexpand Kasuga’s small abodein exchange for Dokobucks.
Kenzo’sinitialexpansionwon’t come cheaply, as it will cost Kasuga100,000 Dokobucks, increasing with each subsequent expansion.
However, the results are significant, as Kasuga’sliving room will receive a very noticeable upgrade, allowing more items to be placed, and thusexpanding the maximum possible health Kasuga can haveon Dondoko Island.
Hearts will be essential as the war against the Washbucklers intensifies, and you’ll need to clear them outto unlock new areas of Dondoko Island.
