The best way to make the most of each run is to first capture the Beakon Alpha boss and then use the Meat Cleaver to butcher it. This way, you get two chances for the Legendary Schematic to drop instead of just one when you fight Alpha Beakon.
Breeding and the butchering Beakon boss has zero chance of dropping the Legendary Handgun Schematic. The item drops from the Alpha boss version only.
