The Necromancer uses the power of the dead to fuel their destructive abilities inDiablo 4. The Necromancer has access to corpse manipulation, shadow and blood magic, and the ability to summon undead minions to do their bidding.
One of the Necromancer’s Unique weapons is the Black River. This Unique One-handed Scythe greatly empowers the Corpse Explosion ability, but it can be difficult to obtain. Below, we’ll take a look at all your options for getting this Unique weapon.
What Does Black River Do?
Corpse Explosion consumes up to 4 additional Corpses around the initial Corpse, dealing [122-130]% increased damage and with a [21-25]% larger radius per additional Corpse.
Black Rivermakes yourCorpse Explosions much more powerful, at the cost of consuming most of the nearby Corpses with each cast of the ability. This weapon can be great for detonating tons of Corpses without having to activate each one of them. This also works with theGrim Harvestpassive, granting you a ton ofbonus Essence with each use of Corpse Explosion.
How To Get Black River
There are multiple different ways to get Black River, but each of them will require a bit of luck. First of all, you’ll need to be in at leastWorld Tier 3for Black River to drop, but you’ll have a slightlybetter chance in World Tier 4.
As with most items, there’s always a chance that it willrandomly dropfrom any enemy you kill.Drowned enemieshave the best chance to drop Scythes, so farming theMariner’s Refuge Nightmare Dungeonwhere they appear is a decent option.
The best way to farm any Unique item is to kill the uber boss Duriel, King of Maggots. you’re able to summon this boss by usingtwo Mucus-Slick Eggs, dropped by the Echo of Varshan, andtwo Shards of Agony, dropped by Grigoire the Galvanic Saint. Use these items at theGaping Crevasse in Kehjistanto summon Duriel.
Duriel has a decent chance to drop Unique items, and if you’re playing as aNecromancer, it’s only a matter of time before Black River drops.
Alternatively, participating inHelltideand opening chests using Aberrant Cinders is a good way to get rare items, so be sure to do Helltide periodically as well.
