There are several ways to grow your party’s strength inFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth, a few of which matter just as much as leveling up. But the classic RPG level grind is still here, and it isn’t always clear how to get gobs of EXP in a timely manner.
Aside from fighting enemies in the overworld - a rather obvious solution if ever there were one - you can check out the methods we’ve listed below. Some might already seem clear-cut, while others will surprise; either way, consider consulting this guide if you find yourself lamenting relatively low levels that just won’t seem to increase.
Battle Bosses
If you feel like you aren’t making much progress no matter how many fights you partake in,go ahead and take on the next climactic encounter. The ratio of experience points gained here isexponentially higher than what you’ll find in the overworld.
Unless you’re extraordinarily overleveled (which isn’t an easy feat until much later in the game),the EXP rewards from bosses will feel plentiful.Thelikelihood of gaining a levelis pretty good, and even if you don’t, you’ll make great progress.
Side Quest Skirmishes And Classified Intel
Severalside questssporttougher-than-average enemiesat the end. These are oftenrare variants of known foes. For example, an early side quest in the Grasslands, which heavily features Red XIII,pits you up against a powerful white wolf.
When the wolf falls, it leaves behinda ton of EXP- far more than you’d get from slaying a dozen of its weaker brethren. Along similar lines, andmore so by far, the Classified Intel creaturesin each region are like boss fights all their own. And they’re worth enough experience to reflect it.
You’ll earn a Classified Intel mark hunt (so to speak) bydefeating every batch of Fiend Intel in a region.Fiend Intel in and of itself isn’t a bad source of leveling.
Consult The Combat Simulator
Slowly but surely, your team can get some leveling in viCombat Simulator battles.It’s not often a massive plate worth of experience points, butyou’ll still get more from finishing these than you would in many regular fights.
The excellent exception comes in the form ofsummon monsters. Their EXP drops are pretty darn good, sobattling them once for maximum rewardsis a surefire ticket to hastening your leveling.
Level Up Your Materia
This one’s more of amental trick. The experience circles in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth’s main menu can be rather intimidating.Oftentimes, it will feel like you’re a mile away from a level, and at least for us, that can compel us to bother less with caring as much in general.
One way to fight this is tofocus on gaining levels for your Materia. There’s ample gratification, sinceleveled Materia is typically more effectivein some fashion.
There’s a ton to discover and equip in Rebirth, andkeeping track of your progress with them allcan make leveling feel like the sort of ‘aside’ that makes it all feel swifter.
Side Quests, Side Quests
There are many side quests in FF7 Rebirth, and there’s good news to boot:they tend to be more engaging than the bulk of what can be found in Remake. They often revolve aroundone of your party members, making them fantastic sources ofaffinity points.
Luckily enough,side quests also close out with heaps of EXP. Not just the regular kind, either;Party Level, that more elusive stat to elevate, tends to tick upward as well. Arguably best of all, the side quests are usuallyquite narratively satisfying.
Plus, there’s plenty ofunique equipment to obtain through Rebirth’s side quests,so again, the rewards are strong in every sense!
