How To Craft And Use A Fishing Rod
Just like many of your other tools and weapons, in order to start fishing you’llfirst need to craft a Fishing Rod.
Fishing Rods come in four different rarities:Uncommon, Common, Rare, and Epic. You’ll start with the Uncommon Fishing Rod, but eventually, you’ll want to upgrade so you can catch some higher-quality fish.
How To Craft A Fishing Rod
Crafting your first Fishing Rod is pretty simple.Just put someCord, made fromVines in the Spinning Wheel, into your inventory to unlock the recipe.
You’ll only need a few basic materials to craft this Fishing Rod, but the higher rarities willrequire more advanced crafting resourcesfound in caves or other biomes. You won’t be able to craft those until you’ve progressed enough in the game to survive in those environments.
AddFrostpine Rodto your inventory.
Unfortunately, youwill notbe able to apply anyEssences to your Fishing Rod at the Essence Tableto increase durability, luck, or any other effects you may want. So make sure you keep the materials you’ll need to be stocked, so you can keepcrafting new Fishing Rodswhen they break.
How To Use A Fishing Rod
Go to any body of water (Oceans, Lakes, or Rivers) andequip the Fishing Rod like you would another weapon or tool. Face the water, thenhold down the attack buttonto aim the Fishing Rod where you want it to go. Release to cast the fishing line into the water.
When the fish pulls on your line,hold down your attack button againto reel the fish in.
Sometimes you’ll catchnon-fishitems likesand shells, food, wood, etc…Every once in a while, you’ll catch a Llama that you can open to receive random resources.
How To Craft And Fish With A Bait Bucket
One of the items you can craft with fish is aBait Bucket, which can be used to createa swirling pool of fishin the water for you to fish from.
To craft a Bait Bucket, you will first need to build aFood Processor. If you have already built and used a Lumber Mill, you should have the build recipe for the Food Processor in your build menu.
How To Build And Use A Food Processor
Tobuild a Food Processoryou’ll need:
When youprocess the fishyou catch through theFood Processor, you getFish Fillet. This item can be put back through the Food Processor again to create theUncommon Bait Bucket.
You can craftfour different rarities of Bait Buckets. The higher the rarity (paired with a higher-quality Fishing Rod) gives you agreater chance of catching higher-quality fish, including Legendaries.
Juicer
Once you have a Bait Bucket,equip it to your Quickbar.Then, throw the Bait Bucket into the water using your action button. Now,switch to your Fishing Rodand aim it at the whirlpool of fish that the Bait Bucket created. Keep fishing from the whirlpool till it disappears.
