After a brief stint in Saga’s side of the story inAlan Wake 2, Sheriff Tim Breaker finds himself whisked away to the Dark Place, where he crosses paths with Alan multiple times. There, whenever Alan finds him, he provides valuable information for both in the form of some intriguing lore as well as the locations of some valuable resources.
However, he’s not always easy to find, because sometimes he’s tucked away in some corner of the map, hidden behind a puzzle, or even right in your path, but in a direction you wouldn’t think to look. If you’re having trouble locating this lost Sheriff, we can help with this guide to all his locations in the Dark Place.

What Do You Get For Finding Sheriff Tim Breaker?
You have some pretty big incentives for findingSheriff Breaker, at least on your first playthrough. Every time you encounter him at a new place, he has new things to talk about and if you check his conspiracy board (he calls it his ‘crazy wall’),it gains new entries for you to peruse.
Listen for the tell-tale hummingor look for the (humming) subtitleand you’ll know Sheriff Breaker is nearby.

If you want something a little more tangible, he also has a map of the area you find him in pinned up somewhere nearby. These maps label any searchable containers in the area, which includes file cabinets, coolers, and item-rich suitcases. More importantly, the maps also show the location of every Word of Power in the area, which you’re able to exchange for some powerful permanent effects.
Dark Place Rooftops
Earliest Apperance: Initiation 2 - Casey
This location becomes available after you get the Light Source after watching Alex Casey die in the alley. This is meant to open the way to Caldera Street Station,if you take a detour west of there, you’ll find a pile of stuff in front of a staircase and an inactive Light Shift. Activate it, climb up the stairs to the rooftops.
You’ll go through a door that leads you to another rooftop. To the left of that is a Break Room door. Go past it (stick left) and you’ll find a staircase leading to Sheriff Breaker’s office.

Caldera Street Station Tunnels
Considering that this location is almost directly in your path, it’s surprisingly easy to miss. After finding a Light Source, you can activate a Light Shift to a flooded stairway, making it traversable. You do this as part of the story.
Proceed and you’ll run into some lockers. Go forward and turn right, then turn right again to face the wall, where there will be a door (it faces the lockers) where Breaker is located.

Caldera Street Station (and this Breaker location) is only accessible when the streets above aren’t Parliament Street. After you complete Initiation 8: Zane’s Film, it is no longer accessibleuntil a New Game+, since the streets above become Parliament Street station for Alan for the rest of the game.
On The Way To Mirror Peak Bar (Initiation Five: Room 665)
Earliest Appearance: Initiation Five - Room 665
This chapter has you looking for an alternate route to the Oceanview Hotel, the Mirror Peak Bar. After taking a side alley to where Alex Casey was shot, you’ll find anentrance to the rooftops. Follow the path intended for you, and you’ll finda Break Roomanda ladder leading up. At the top, you’ll find a dooryou’ll need to play with to get to the bar.
Before dealing with that, head left of that door and you’ll find a staircase leading to a lower rooftop, where you’ll find a ladder down. At the bottom is an area with the door that Breaker is behind,as well as a chain link door you can unlock to get back to the Break Room Area.

Oceanview Hotel Room 209 (Initiation Five: Room 665)
You can find Sheriff Breaker on the second floor of the Oceanview, Room 209, which you can access by going through room 104. On the quickest path from the Break Room to the Ballroom (turn left and go straight ahead from the Break Room), you’ll find room 209on the left side.
However, you’ll need the key to enter the room, so you have to go to the door labeled Room 216 in the opposite hallway to get the keys to Room 209. Upon entering 216/206, you’ll notice that there’s another door on the opposite side of the room. After you grab the Room 209 keys, exit through that door, labeled 206 to end up in the same hallway as Room 209.

Car Wash Across Poet’s Cinema (Initiation Seven: Masks)
Earliest Appearance: Initiation Seven - Masks
This one is so difficult to findthat we wrote a separate guide for it. Long story short:there’s a locked door in the back of the Car Wash. The one you’ll have to head through to get to Poet’s Theater.
As you exit through thehalf-closed shutter, keep left, andyou’ll find a small puzzle based on looking into windowsandigniting Dark Spots to blow stuff up. After that, the door will be unblocked and on the opposite side of some lockers, you’ll find Sheriff Breaker’s latest haunt.

Poet’s Cinema Rooftops (Initiation Eight: Zane’s Film)
Earliest Appearance: Initiation Eight - Zane’s Film
Theoretically, this should be the last place you find Breaker. He’s directly on the route to your goal up here, showing up in the area right before the Echo scene that gets you “The Grandmaster” scene prompt.Past a chain link door, you’ll find another door and hear the telltale humming.
Unfortunately, that door is locked.Turn left and go left past some air conditioning blocks and you’ll find some stairs that lead you under the walkways.Follow it to the end and you’ll end up in Sheriff Breaker’s room. You can unlock the previously-mentioned door on this side, which makes for a convenient exit.
