One of the main gameplay focuses ofSand Landis its vehicles, which Beelzebub will unlock and use throughout the adventure to help him traverse across the harsh desert.
In order to gain access to most of these vehicles in the first place, you’re going to need to build them after acquiring their Core Frame, which requires a lot of different materials. Most of them are easy to find and can just be acquired from defeating other enemies and monsters, but there’s one in particular that becomes very important as you progress through the game - Raptor Steel.
What Is Raptor Steel?
Raptor Steel is a special type of metal in the world of Sand Land that is reinforced with the scales of, as you’re able to probably guess, raptors. After you’ve built the first two vehicles in the game, the Tank and the Jump-Bot,you’ll find that every other new ride requires a lot of Raptor Steel, which makes it one of the most invaluable resources in the game.
It’s not just used when making vehicles, though,as it’s also a key component when it comes to upgrading a vehicle’s level once you’ve made it. If you want to equip better weapons, EX chips, and engines for your rides, then you’re going to need to get your hands on a lot of Raptor Steel throughout the game.
Where To Find Raptor Steel
During the opening hours of Sand Land, you might find yourself coming across a few small pieces of Raptor Steelafter searching crates or completing certain side missions such as the Dispirited Diamond questyou can encounter early in the game. That being said, though, you very rarely get more than a few pieces at a time with these methods.
Although you could just explore every location to open treasure chests and do every side quest you come across, there’s actually an easier way to get your hands on it.Once you’ve built the Jump-Bot at the end of the “A Jump-Bot?! Gimme!” quest,return to the Junker Market in Lisab, which is found in the North West corner of the map.
While here, head towards the right and you’ll see an NPC you may interact with who runs a Workshop.This Workshop can be used to craft as much Raptor Steel as you like, making it an invaluable location when trying to build vehicles like the Car or the Motorbike. There are three different recipes for Raptor Steel, which leaves you with a lot of options when trying to craft it.
The first, and easiest, recipe requires 1 B-Grade Steel and 2 Raptor Scales. B-Grade Steel is found everywhere throughout Sand Land, while Raptor Scales can be acquired by defeating Raptors and collecting the items they drop when killed.The next recipe asks for 1 B-Grade Steel and 1 Puraptor Scale, which is more difficult since the Puraptor (a white variant of the normal Raptor) is harder to find.
Finally,there’s a recipe that requires 1 B-Grade Steel and 1 Alpha Raptor Scale, which is fairly easy to get since you’ll run into a lot of Alpha Raptors. It’s best to stick to the first and easiest recipe if you want a reliable way of getting Raptor Steel, though.
An Even Easier Method For Getting Raptor Steel
Later on in the game once you’ve recruited a few new members to Spino,Mayor Tor will give you a side quest called Tinkerer Siblingsthat has you on the hunt for a material processor.Once you’ve completed that side mission,you’ll have access to a Workshop in Spino that lets you craft Raptor Steel, meaning you won’t have to fast-travel between the Garage and the Junker’s Market whenever you need the precious metal.
The cost of making Raptor Steel isn’t different between Workshops, so this is just a quicker way of getting the Raptor Steel for the Garage without having to fast-travel to the Junker’s Market.
