There are a lot of quirky machines inPacific Drive, one of them being the transmuter. If you’ve played before, you will be experienced with the concept of Pacific Drive’s version of a transmuter, but it’s incorporated slightly differently than in other games. Despite that, it is an easy-to-use machine with potential importance.

The transmuter could be your saving grace or just something you pass by without much care. Like many things in rogue-like games, chance plays a big part in the machine’s usefulness. So, with that in mind, here’s what to do when you find a transmuter.

Where To Find A Transmuter

Contrary to what you might assume, you will not have access to a transmuter at your main base of operations, Oppy’s Auto Shop. Instead, luck will have to be on your side for you to find one while out exploring. Thankfully, they can be quite common.

They’re not entirely difficult to find, asyou can find them often in ARDA Trailersspread out across the zones. Not all trailers will spawn with one, however.

They will spawn inside a trailer’s bathroom behind a closed door, so verify to check there. As an alternative option, they also spawn at ARDA Towers.

They willalways spawn at a tower, but temporary labs are more abundant.

What Does A Transmuter Do?

A transmuter in Pacific Drive is very similar to other games with this type of machine. You put materials in, and another type of material comes out.

This sounds very useful, and it is. However, the caveat is thatwhat you can transmute is based on the machine you find. Each transmuter will take and give different materials.

To see what materials the transmuter needs, check the display screen. At the top, it will show two icons. Theleft side shows what materials you put in, and theright side shows what you’ll receive.

In the screenshot above, it took five bulbs to receive one chemical. However, there isno way to tell how much of one item you’ll need to receive another.

The best way to find out is through trial and error. Not every transmuter will need five of an item, it might take more or less.

You can also interact with the machine, and it will open your inventory. It will tell you in plain words what materials you need in the top right.

A transmuter can be extremely helpful on a case-by-case basis. For example, if you need pressurized canisters, and you happen to find a transmuter that will make them for you, then you’re in luck. Moments like that are rare, though.

It is also important to mention that since you won’t have access to a transmuter at the Auto Shop, you won’t have access to your full inventory when you find a transmuter.

You’ll need to have the items the transmuter needs with you or find them while exploring.

So, while useful, transmuters are quite limited. It is a very powerful machine, so it makes sense why luck plays a large part in how and when you use it.
