Exploring a new and lush planet inLightyear Frontierleads to exciting discoveries and adventures. With so many new crops and environments to come across, you’ll need all the right tools to harvest these resources and craft new items. Each tool has a specific purpose that will help you build a homestead and restore the planet.
The first step is finding your tools once you land, then upgrading them to access new areas and materials. It will take some time to cross the whole map, so here’s what you need to know to find your tools and get the right upgrades!
Where To Find Your Tools
When you first land on the planet, you’ll need torepair your mech and find all your tools. They are scattered across the planet’s surface, but thankfully all in accessible places.There are five toolsin all to find:
It’s easy to get lost looking for your tools since the area is new.Almost all of them can be found in the Meadows, while the Irrigation Hose can be found in Pine Heights.
Follow thestacks of yellow smoketo find each tool! They’re inside the bulky yellow chests.
Below is a breakdown of where you can find each tool:
Irrigation Hose
Pine Heights
Make your way to Pine Heights, taking a right turn when facing the Dam. Continue north until you near a little pond with a tree in the center. There’s a small winding path covered in Slime that will lead you to the chest.
Spike Saw
The Meadows
By the little pond that’s dried up, to the west of The Meadows.
Sprout Cannon
South from where you started, follow the dirt path up the hill and turn left.
Vacuum Harvester
By the big pond in the center of The Meadows, to the east.
How To Upgrade Your Tools
Once you get the hang of things, it’s time tostart looking at upgrades. Upgrading your tools will help youaccess new resourcesand clean up more areas around the map. There are upgrades for each of your tools, as well as your mech itself.
You canupgrade your tools and mech at the Upgrade Depot, which you can craft with the following materials:
To upgrade your tools, you’lldock the mech at the Upgrade Depotand walk over to the console. From there, you canbrowse each optionand plan your resource gathering accordingly. To purchase an upgrade,hold the interact button.
Each upgrade costs different materials, and you’llneed the upgrade before it in the treeto get even better upgrades. Below is a breakdown of each upgrade and how to get it:
Resources Needed
Seed Shooter Lock-on
The Seed Shooter can Lock On to and automatically hit up to nine Mounds.
Lock-on Targets I
The Seed Shooter can Lock On to up to 18 Mounds.
Lock-on Targets II
The Seed Shooter can Lock On to up to 32 Mounds.
Lock-on Targets III
The Seed Shooter can Lock On to up to 64 Mounds.
Irrigation Hose Hydro Splash
The Irrigation Hose can fire big globs of liquid that can splash on multiple Mounds at the same time.
Hydro Splash Size I
The Irrigation Hose’s Hydro Splash splashes Liquids in a larger area.
The Irrigation Hose’s Hydro Splash splashes Liquids in an even larger area.
Water Tank Capacity I
Increase Water tank Capacity. The Mech can store more water in its Water Tank.
Irrigation Hose Range I
Increase the range of the Irrigation Hose. Liquids can be sprayed further.
Water Tank Capacity III
The Mech can store even more water in its Water Tank.
Irrigation Hose Power I
Increase the power of the Irrigation Hose, allowing it to wash away strong Slime.
Spike Saw Power I
Increase the power of the Spike Saw, allowing it to break strong materials.
Spike Saw Damage I
Increase the Damage of the Spike Saw, allowing it to break materials in fewer hits.
Inventory Capacity I
Increase Inventory Capacity. The Mech can store more items before becoming Overcumbered.
Vacuum Harvester Range I
Increase the range of the Vacuum Harvester, allowing it to reach resources from farther away.
Vacuum Harvester Width I
Increase the width of the Vacuum Harvester, allowing it to gather resources in a wide area.
Vacuum Harvester Power I
Increase the Power of the Vacuum Harvester, allowing it to suck up strong Weeds.
Pathmaker
Pathmaker Mode allows the Mech to freely create Paths on the ground.
Field Plow
Field Plow Mode allows the Mech to freely create fields of Mounds on the ground.
Thruster Boost I
Increase Thruster Boost, allowing the Mech to jump higher and stay in the air for longer.
Thruster Boost II
The Mech can jump even higher and stay in the air for even longer.
