Books have been present inStardew Valleyfor a while, in the form of Lost Books. With the 1.6 update for the game, we were introduced to a whole new range of books that provide helpful effects. One book type that you will come across is Books of Power.
These books provide unique perks and effects that go beyond just earning some experience for a specific skill. In this guide, we are going to take a look at what Books of Power do, as well as how you’re able to obtain them. How To Buy Books Of Power
Some Books of Power can be purchaseddirectly from the Bookseller who visits Pelican Town.This is a merchant whose arrival is marked by ahot air balloon on the calendar.When you see this icon on the map, you can head to the area behind Joja Mart.
Here, you will find the Bookseller, who offers a variety of books that you’re able to buy. Books of Power will provide a unique passive, such as extra horse speed. It’s important to keep in mind that there are a lot of Books of Power, but theBookseller will only have a few at a time.
If you want to see more, check back next time the Bookseller visits town. Certain books can also bepurchased from specific NPCs,which we will go over later.
How To Find Books Of Power In The Valley
Books of Power can also befound around the valley, with many being specific to the book. For the most part, books that are not purchased from the Bookseller have aunique acquisition method.
For example,you may find ‘Jack Be Nimble, Jack Be Thick’ within an artifact spot.Rather than spending money at the Bookseller, this is a great way toget the book for free.Of course, this is out of your control, as you will not know which artifact spots have a Book of Power within.

Once you obtain a book, it will go into your inventory. From here, hold it from your toolbar and consume it,similar to how you would eat food in the game.Once you’ve done this, you will gain the power from the book.The effect is permanent,which is why some of the books may be a bit difficult to obtain.
