An idea in the original Dragon’s Dogma was to have multiple races present such as Beastren, Elves, and Dwarves alongside Humans. Though it could not be achieved there, it was brought to fruition withDragon’s Dogma 2. One such Elf is Glyndwr, who struggles to fit within his own culture.

You meet him first in Vernworth and you help him learn how to use human bows. As a result of this, he feels more confident in his upcoming trial of archery. With that said, the trial is far from simple, and this guide is to make sure you help Glyndwr and his faily come out on top.

Speaking to Glyndwr in Vernworth in Dragon’s Dogma 2

How To Get To The Sacred Arbor

There are a couple of ways you may come across A Trial Of Archery:

Upon receiving the quest, he asks you to meet him in the forests to the northwest of Vernworth so that he might guide you towards the Sacred Arbor of the Elves. Thankfully,Glyndwr is marked on the map for this portion of the quest.

Reaching the Sacred Arbor is easy with Glyndwr by your side, but make sure to stay close to him, as many monsters roam the path on your journey, and you don’t want to risk him dying.

If possible, try to have aPawn with you that can speak Elvishas it will make the quest immensely easier.

Upon reaching the Sacred Arbor, Glyndwr will speak with the guard out front to allow you entry. He will summarise the conversation for you, though will skip doing so if you already have a pawn with you that translates. You are not granted entry.

Continue following him until he reaches the Arborist’s Home, where he notes that it is unusually quiet. Taliesin, his father, the Arborist, and Archer-Maister, shall appear to inform him that Glyndwr’s sister,Doireann, has been captured by an ogre within the Ancestral Chamber.

How To Save Doireann In The Ancestral Chamber

Hearing that his sister has been kidnapped, Glyndwr marks the location of the Ancestral Chamber on your map and rushes off, requesting you join him as soon as possible.

Despite the urgency stated in the dialogue, this mission is not timed. That said, it’s best to do it immediately as it is quite near to the Sacred Arbor.

The Ancestral Chamber, marked on your map, is a cave located to the southeast of the Sacred Arbor and is teeming with enemies. You will have Glyndwr to help you along the way, andthe cave is almost entirely linear, so there is little chance of getting lost.

By the time you reach the central chamber, Glyndwr will ask you to allow him to take a shot to free Doireann from the ogre’s arms while you escape from the Ancestral Chamber with her. This is not a choice. After the dialogue, Glyndwr will loose an arrow, and Doireann will be freed.

At this point, you may choose to fight the ogre, though it is unnecessary. In fact, it would be recommended to avoid fighting it altogether to minimize the chances of any important characters dying.

Grab Doireann and carry her out of the Ancestral Chamber. New enemies will spawn on the way back, though feel free to allow your pawns to handle them. Once you reach the exit, a cutscene will trigger with Glyndwr praising you for your help and Taliesin acknowledging the efforts his son has put into succeeding him as Arborist.

As further praise, you will berewarded with 16,000 gold and aPortcrystalfor your assistance. It might be a good idea to set this down in the Sacred Arbor, as it will allow you to fast-travel here in the future, saving a lot of time.
