The endgame ofLast Epochincludes various dungeons, boss fights, an endless arena mode, and the Monolith of Fate system. Those who play the Monolith of Fate for a few hours will start to notice the presence of a strange entity called the Shade of Orobyss. Gaining access to this fight can seem tricky when just starting out, but once you may start farming Empowered Monoliths, killing the Shade of Orobyss becomes an expectation.

Defeating this boss is your main source of Corruption in Last Epoch, and they also drop some powerful Unique items when slain. This guide will explain how to gain access to this fight, give a general overview of its attacks, and cover the rewards you can earn from defeating the Shade of Orobyss.

Last Epoch End Of A World Echo

How To Fight The Shade Of Orobyss

The Shade of Orobyss can be found in theMonolith of Fateendgame activity. As you complete timeline Echoes and push outward, you will have a moderate chance of finding tiles named “Echo of a World.” Entering this node will start the Orobyss boss fight. If you succeed, you will receive a Unique from the boss' loot table and increase your timeline’s Corruption stat.

You are more likely to find theEcho of a World on the edges of your timeline web.The further the node is from your web’s epicenter, the more Corruption Orobyss will award once slain. In addition to their exclusive Uniques, killing Orobyss will reset your Echo web, although your Stability and Corruption will remain for that timeline.

Shade Of Orobyss Boss Guide

Once you enter the Echo of a World, the Shade of Orobyss will spawn from the remnants of an old Monolith and engulf itself in a certain element.Part of the boss' moveset is determined by its element, chosen at random when the fight starts. This means that not every Shade of Orobyss encounter will play out the same.

The Shade of Orobyss can perform the following attacks while aligned with the listed element:

Last Epoch Shade of Orobyss Melee Attack

Beyond those elements, the Shade of Orobyss will use three Void attacks and a melee swipe throughout the fight. We highly recommend you max your Void and Physical resistances before attempting this fight. The more survivability tools you have, the easier this fight will be.

Basic Attacks

The Shade of Orobyss will attempt tomelee youif you get too close, dealing a moderate amount of Physical damage. Try to stay at a distance to prevent them from hitting you. If you are too far from the boss, it will throw out aVoid projectilethat deals moderate Void damage. This attack has no tracking, so you can safely strafe to the side and avoid it.

Meteor Slam

After a short animation, the Shade will raise its arms and conjure a massive meteor before slamming it into the ground, dealing massive Void damage to anyone below. Simplywalk away from the meteor right as it appearsto avoid the attack. If your movement speed is too slow, use a movement skill to avoid this attack.

There’s a variant of this skill that uses a meteorite. It comes out much faster but deals far less damage. The same counter applies here as well.

Void Cascade

The Shade will create three separate lines of black holes that remain in place, dealing massive damage to anyone caught inside. The black holes always spawn from the front and rear of the boss.Move out the way the second you see the black holes form, and avoid entering them at all costs. The black holes deal more damage as they persist, so they can one-shot you under the right circumstance.

Black Hole Mines

Multiple black holes will spawn in the arena that will remain stationary, behaving like a mine. The black holes will grow in size before exploding, releasing a barrage of projectiles that deal low Fire damage. The explosion itself hits like a truck, however, so stay clear of the black hole as it detonates.

Additional Void Abilities

From our limited time fighting Orobyss, we haven’t seen every Void ability in their kit, but they have over a dozen abilities they can pull from.Shade will only use three Void abilities, so you can kill this boss multiple times and never see these attacks. Here is every remaining Void attack we haven’t mentioned:
