Your car is everything inPacific Drive. It’s your way of getting around the zone, it holds and transports items for you, and it’s one of the safest places you can be. It’s even an entity in its own right, and you’ll be adding all sorts of parts and pieces to it to help you survive the Zone.
Just because you’re in a mysterious, quarantined zone full of strange entities doesn’t mean you’re able to’t travel in style though. You can find paint, decals, and customization items like computer-themed bobbleheads just as you find resources for crafting, and use them to make your car truly unique.

How To Find Car Customization Items
Car Paint, Decal Kits, and Decor items can befound randomly like other resourcesin the game. They have achance of appearingin any type ofcommon loot container, like backpacks and crates, but they’refar more common in certain containers:
These containers have amuch higher chanceof containingat least one Paint, Decal Kit, or Decor itemin them, and they’lloften have around two to threeof the three at once.

All the Paints, Decal Kit, and Decor you pick up can bestored in your trunkor storage options like usual, but they can’t be applied until you return to the Auto Shop.
Cosmetic itemsspecifically can also befound in the unique Deco-Vend, which can occasionally befound inside Gas Station shops. These give youone random Cosmetic item per pull, then break afterward.

You can also make your own Deco-Vend later in the game, once you’ve begun acquiringUnstable Energyand haveunlocked it via the Fabrication Station.
This version works the same, except you canspend Anchor Energyon cosmetics, and themachine won’t break.

How To Apply Paint And Decals To Your Car
Paint and Decals can beapplied to most piecesof your car, and each piece of your car can have up toone coat of Paint and one Decal Kit appliedto it at once.
No
Both Paints and Decal Kits can be stored in the Paint Shelf to conserve space in your lockers for other resources.
The Paint Shelf is unlocked automatically after starting the game.
Toapply Paint or a Decal Kitto your car, you’llfirst need to equip it to your hand. They work like Repair Putty and other repairing items, andcan be applied to a car piecewith Use Item Or Tool.
This takes a few moments, then thepaint or decal will appearon the car, and it willlose durability.
Every time youuse the item, it will remove one durability from it, and running out of durability will cause it to break like any other tool.
Despite this, you canstore and hold multiple of the same Paint and Decal Kitin the Paint Shelf, and you canfind duplicates at a fairly consistent rate.
The exception to this rule is the paint and decal items from the We Have Liftoff Customization Pack, which automatically reappear in the Paint Shelf upon breaking.
How To Use The Detailing Station
