Some of the creatures inArk: Survival Ascendedare a bit weird. The Chalicotherium is one of them: it’s got a horse-like head, is built like a bear, and walks on its massive front arms like a gorilla. It may be a herbivore, but the Chalicotherium is just as fierce as any carnivore and makes for a great tame.

Wild creatures don’t care about your taming though – they want a meal, and anything they can get their hands on is free game, including that Chalicotherium you want. As long as you keep your distance, and most importantly, keep the Chalicotherium from dying, you’re able to safely tame this powerful mammal.

Chalicotherium Uses

Besides being agreat all-around mountthanks tohigh HP, Knockback, and Damage, the Chalicotherium alsoserves two major uses: a goodBerry and Thatch gathererand anamazing dinosaur for PVP sieges.

You canstill use weapons while ridinga Chalicotherium, so it’s also agreat mount for tamingall sorts of creatures, especially if youinvest in its HP to make it tank hits.

While itisn’t the best wood gatherer, a Chalicotherium is still bothfast and efficient at gathering Berries and Thatch, and canmake transporting them easier, since it’sfaster than most other herbivores. It’s also got adecent Weight stat, so it canserve as a mid-game item transporter, even though itdoesn’t have any weight reductionsfor items like more specialized gathers such asCastoroidesorArgentavis.

Chalicotherium can evenoutperform other early and mid-game Thatch gatherers, such as theTriceratops, thanks to thespeed of its swings.

Chalicotherium canrecover its own HPat a rate oftwo percent per second up to a maximum of 50 percentby using its uniqueSit command in the Radial menu.

PVP Siegesare where theChalicotherium truly shines: it’s theonly creaturethat iscapable of throwing bouldersat both players and structureslike the Catapult Turret.

Unlike the turret, Chalicotherium cancontinuously throw stones without needing ammunitionand can bemaneuvered far more easilysince it doesn’t need to be picked up or placed.

Chalicotherium can beput into Turret Modeand willautomatically lob rocksat enemies ifput into Neutral or Aggressive.
