When it comes to charging up your smart home with more and more features, Alexa is typically a staple that has your back. If you have tried to connect Alexa to your PlayStation 5, however, you already know your goal is a bit fruitless. The powerhouse Sony console does not support Alexa or her library of voice commands.

While it is not possible to natively connect an Echo device to your console and use Alexa’s voice commands to control it, you do have a handful of options to bring some extra smart power to your gaming experience.

How To Connect Alexa To A PlayStation 5

Because the PlayStation 5does not have native Bluetooth supportfor Echo devices, it isnot currently possibleto connect an Alexa device and use her voice commands to control your console. you may, however, use aBluetooth dongleto connect an Echo device and use it as aspeaker.

To do this, plug in your external Bluetooth dongle and follow any instructionsincluded with the equipmentto set it up. In the Alexa app:

Once Alexa finds your device, select it. Your Echo device can now be used as aspeakerfor your PlayStation 5.

Do I Have Any Voice Command Options For My PlayStation 5?

The short answer is… yes! You do havesome voice command functionality.

Connect Alexa To Your Smart TV To Turn On Your PlayStation 5

If you have asmart TVwith Echo device capabilities (i.e. Roku, Fire TV, etc), you can set up your Alexa tocontrol the TV. Then, enable theHDMI Device Linksetting on your console.

Once enabled, your PS5 willturn on whenever you turn on the TV, including when doing so withAlexa.

While there isno smart device connectivitybuilt into the PlayStation 5, Sony does have a list ofvoice commandsavailable through yourdual sense controllerorconnected microphone. You can enable these commands in your console’s settings by going toVoice Command (Preview).

Once enabled, you can initiate a voice command by saying"Hey PlayStation!“and saying what you want. The previewrecords your voiceand eithertakes actionor presents you with alist of choices.

When presented with a list of choices, choose one bysaying the numberassociated with your selection. The table below includes a fewbasic commandsyou can try out:
