The world ofDragon’s Dogma 2is not only expansive in breadth but oozing with depth as well. Every inch of the world is rife for exploration, and every path you retread is a chance to discover something new you missed the first time around.

The quest Readvent Of Calamity is one such adventure that you would only encounter by revisiting past locales, and with it begins a long chain of events that will have you travelling the length of Vermund and back. It can be a bit vague, though, and that’s where we come in to help.

The Ox Cart Fast Travels to Melve in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

How To Unlock Readvent Of Calamity

Like many of the quests in Dragon’s Dogma 2, Readvent Of Calamity is acquired dynamically. However, rather than a person walking up to you to share their burdens, it is one thathappens randomly while revisiting Melve after reaching Vernworth for the first time.

Triggering the quest itself is a tad vague as well. For some, it can occur during theOxcart Courier questwhile it may not be until somewhat later for others. At any rate, you won’t miss when it’s actually triggered asa giant infected dragon will be laying waste to Melve. A short cutscene will play and the Readvent Of Calamity quest will begin.

Readvent Of Calamity can no longer be acquired and is failed once you completeThe Coronation quest as part of the main story, so make sure to complete it before that point.

How To Defeat The Dragon And Revisiting Melve

Defeating The Dragon

Once the Readvent Of Calamity quest begins, you will be tasked withrepelling the Infected Dragon from Melvealongside Ulrika and the mysterious Sigurd. Don’t fear the massive health bar; you do not need to defeat the dragon in its entirety. Whittle away a few of its health bars, and it will fly off.

Fighting the dragon itself isnot unlike regular drakes, though it has some unique aspects to its battle. For one,the giant pustules all over its body act as weak pointsand will explode once enough damage has been done to them. It also lacks the glowing heart at its chest like other drakes, instead spewing poison from it.

Once it has flown away, you will be approached by Ulrika, thanking you for your help in repelling the dragon, and she asks that you return in a few day’s time to check on how the recovery of Melve is going.

Don’t miss your chance to speak with Sigurd here as well before he walks off ashe will give you the Mystic Spearhand vocation. If he does leave, you can find him inthe Coastal Hut of Harve Village.

Revisiting Melve

Spend a few days doing other quests and adventuring andreturn to Melve after around three to four in-game days. Enter Ulrika’s house to see an argument between her and Martin, a sycophant of Queen Regent Disa. He will accuse Ulrika of treason before marching off, with Ulrika asking you to stay the night.

Once you wake in the morning however, you will find Martin seeking Ulrika, threatening to punish the whole village in her absence. Lennart will inform Martin of Ulrika’s departure, and disavow her as the village chief. Martin accepts this, though claimsthe village will now fall under direct control of the Queen Regent.

After Martin leaves, Lennart will ask you tofind Ulrika and let him know that she is safe. The only guidance he can offer you is limited, though. He can only tell you thatshe has left to find the means to defeat the dragonand protect Melve.

Where To Find Ulrika And How To Complete Trouble On The Cape

Finding Ulrika

Knowing simply that Ulrika has left in hopes of protecting Melve from the dragon, you might be left wondering where in the vast world of Dragon’s Dogma 2 that actually entails. And indeed, the actual indications are limited.

There are tidbits across the world you may hear ofHarve Village and how a dragon attacked it in the past. The man who helped repel the Infected Dragon from Melve, Sigurd, is also located in Harve as stated by his entry in the logbook. SoHarve is your destination.

Keep along this path and you will eventually encounter it along the coastal peninsula.

The first time you enter Harve Village, you will see it overrun with Saurians, and theScaly Invaders questwill activate. This quest, as well as the Harve section of the Monster Culling quest, may need to be completed before Ulrika will appear in Harve, sotry to complete these quests first.

Upon entering Harve, you will see Ulrika arguing with the chief of the village, Jonas, about someone who has gone missing in a local cave. Jonas argues he should be left to his fate, though Ulrika claims not to be bound by his wishes an goes to save this man all the same. This activates the quest Trouble On The Cape.

Completing Trouble On The Cape

Once you speak with her, she will be awed to see you but claim she cannot return to Melve until the dragon is defeated. At this point,Readvent Of Calamity will update and you may return to Lennart, though Ulrika first asks that you help her save the man in the cave.

The Stormwind Cave may already be familiar to you at this point and no great mysteries await you within.Simply defeat the Saurians and save Zoran, returning him to the village alongside Ulrika. As thanks for her help and in penance for his own folly, Jonas will give up the title of village chief to Ulrika, which she will honourably accept. Trouble On The Cape will complete and you will berewarded with 6,500 gold and a Ferrystone.

At this point, you may return to Melve to inform Lennart as to Ulrika’s location. He hopes to help her return in future, andrewards you with 4,500 gold and aRing of Gritfor your trouble. Readvent Of Calamity is now complete.

There is a further follow-up quest to this one,Home Is Where The HearthIs, that sees you help the people of Melve migrate to Harve Village. Completing Trouble On The Cape is essential for this quest to activate, so make sure it is completed before revisiting Melve in future.
