As you playFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you will venture into multiple regions, each brimming with discoveries waiting to be unearthed in the expansive open world. Amidst this exploration, there are numerous pieces of intel to scrutinize and explore for Chadley, as well as side characters in need of assistance from Cloud and his companions.
Side quests in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth span a wide range of activities, from hunting down monsters and chasing after chickens to searching for missing birds and cats. Additionally, you may engage in combat simulation trials within the Shinra Manor, as part of the Lament Of The Damned quest.
How To Begin Lament Of The Damned
The Lament Of The Damned sidequest becomesavailable in Nibelheim at the beginning of Chapter 12. You can initiate it eitherfrom the Town Hallor bycollecting it from the Community Noticeboard.
Upon interacting with the Supervisor,ask him to learn about the Shinra Manor. Then,make your way to the manor, which is located justnorthwest of the town.
Investigate The Lower Levels
Once inside the manor, follow Barret to the elevator and choose togo down to the sub-basement.In the sub-basement, follow Vincent, who will lead you toanother elevator. He’ll grant you his keycard, giving youaccess to the lower levels.
In the lower levels, you’ll reach a room with a terminal whereyou’ll need to complete the combat simulator challenges,and you’ll havefour trialsthat you need to complete.
How To Complete All The Preliminary Trials
Preliminary Trial: Aerial Specimens
In the first trial, you’ll need todefeat four Scrutineyes within the time limit.
These enemies are quite nimble and tend to dodge a lot of your attacks. To counter this,use Cloud’s sweeping attack by holding down the attack button and spamming it on all of them. This should help you dispatch them efficiently despite their evasive maneuvers.
Preliminary Trial: Ruthless Specimens
In the second trial, you’ll need todefeat three Amalgams and one Adjudicator within the time limit. The Amalgams are relatively easy to deal with, sofocus on defeating them firstbefore tackling the Adjudicator.
We recommend bringingYuffiewith you to this trial.
When facing the Adjudicator, you canuse Yuffie’s magic attacksorCloud’s sweeping attack to pressure it. Once it’s staggered,unleash your weapon abilitiesto deal significant damage and defeat it efficiently.
Preliminary Trial: Comparable Specimens
The third trial consists of two challenges:defeating the enemies within the time limit and staggering enemies three times. The enemies this time are oneYin & Yanandtwo Necrotic Entities.
We recommend bringing bothTifaandYuffiefor this trial.
Start by using Tifa to build up the stagger meter on the Yin & Yan with her melee combo. Once you have a charge of ATB,use her Focused Strike. Once the stagger meter is built up,move on to the next enemy, ensuring you get the three staggers before eliminating any enemies. The time limit is two and a half minutes, which is more than enough.
If you prefer not to use Tifa, Yuffie will be just as effective with her quick melee combo and Elemental Ninjutsu.
Once you’ve secured the three staggers,use your weapon abilities on the enemies, and they should fall quickly.
Preliminary Trial: Bioselected Specimens
In the final trial, you need todefeat one Yin & Yan and one Adjudicator within the time limit while also staggering enemies twice.
Use the same strategy you used with the Yin & Yanin the third trial here. Start by using Tifa and her melee combo to build up the stagger meter.Focus on securing the two staggers first. After the Yin & Yan is staggered,switch to attacking the Adjudicator with Tifa until it is pressured. Then,switch to Yuffie and use her magic attacksto quickly build up the stagger gauge.
Once you’ve secured the two staggers,use your abilities to defeat the enemies efficiently.
If you find any of these trials difficult,you can always switch the difficulty to Easyto make them more manageable for you.
How To Beat Dranabarga
With all trials completed,a door will open, and you’ll need to follow its path to reach the source of the voice. At the end of the path, you’ll encountera mini-boss fight against Dranabarga.Dranabarga isweak to Ice, makingYuffie invaluable for building up the stagger meter. Keep in mind that you canpressure him during his Subdue ability by inflicting enough damage.
Avoid attempting to attack him from behind as it doesn’t work.
During the beginning of the fight, you canexploit his weakness by using Yuffie’s Ice Ninjutsu. Then,keep an eye out for when he uses Subdue so you can use your abilities to pressure himand quickly build up the stagger effect.
As his HP diminishes, Dranabarga’s attackswill inflict Poison, soconsider casting Regen on your party membersto counteract it.
If your summon meter is filled,don’t hesitate to summon, or if your limit break is charged,use it when the enemy is staggered for maximum impact.
After defeating Dranabarga, the quest concludes, and you’ll receive rewards, includingThe Art of Swordplay Vol. VI, EXP,andParty EXP. Additionally,new challenges will be added to the combat simulatorif you want to tackle them later.
