As soon as you’re set loose upon the Grasslands,Final Fantasy 7 Rebirthbegins to reveal its vastness. Even this first region is large enough to get lost in for hours, and the side quests only further that feeling. It doesn’t hurt that these side quests are a real step up from Remake’s, too.
Livestock’s Bane sees Cloud and Red XIII team up to uncover the mystery behind some brutally slain farm animals. Red’s got a nose for this stuff, though the party’s chocobos soon reveal they do as well. Follow our guide to get to the heart of this mystery - and survive it.

How To Begin Livestock’s Bane
As with many side quests in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, there are two ways to commence Livestock’s Bane. The first, and the most direct, is tochat with the quest giver at his farm. You’ll find him - his name’sOliver- tothe east and slightly north of the Plains Tower.
you’re able to also kickstart Livestock’s Bane byreading the Community Board in Kalm. This is a surefire way to acquire any available side quests in each region in any given time, once they’re actually added to the board.

In Kalm’s case, the side quests won’t pop up on the Community Board (and thus, cannot be acquired in your travels yet either) untilafter you’ve gotten your first chocobo, Piko.
Sleuthing The Scene
After you have spoken with Oliver, follow the quest marker to the nearby spotwhere the livestock were attacked. Watch the cutscene, and thensummon Piko, press the up button on the directional pad, and follow the trail of the scent.
Fiendswill roam your path. You’ll have to dispatch at least one group, andyou might as well gain some more EXPrather than circumvent the rest.

The trail will send you to theshoreline along rocky hills. If you’ve not yet been here, you’ll find one of Titan’s shrinesnot far away. Check it out to knock one of yourDivine Intel tasksoff the list.
Killing The Culprit
At trail’s end, you’lluncover the titular livestock’s bane: White Terror, a profoundly overpowered wolf. If you’re squaring off against White Terror atthe recommended level for the quest, expect adifficult fight.
White Terror is afast-moving creature with no elemental weaknesses. Instead, pressuring it is handled by blocking its attacks as it gains power, which occurs over the course of the fight. Achieving this several times willdiminish the energywhilst pressuring it.
Dealing high amounts of damageworks as well, but blocking’s probably best, since you need to mitigate the growing strength.
Don’t be discouraged if your adversary puts serious pain on you, oreven prompts you to retry the battlealtogether.Have a dedicated healer, andkeep Red XIII in your party so that his blocking charges his Vengeance Mode, which will speed things up in your favor.
Report back to Oliver when you’ve felled the vicious animal murderer. You’ll gainaffinity with Red XIII, EXP, Party EXP, and another World Intel pip on your way to completing the Grasslands!
