Each level inChildren Of The Sunincludes a hidden challenge that can be completed for extra points and (depending on the platform you’re playing on) an Achievement. The only hint to your hidden objective is the subtitle to each level. While some are fairly simple to deduce and execute, others are a bit more obscure, or require a very specific path.
Whether you just want a boost to your score for the leaderboards, or you’re chasing one hundred percent completion in this grisly game, this guide will help you determine what you need to do in order to complete each challenge, and offer tips on how to do it. We’ve even included videos detailing some of the more difficult ones.
Broken Home: The Virus Is In Their Heads
The first mission serves as a tutorial, so its Challenge is as straightforward and intuitive as it gets. All four Cultists are within view of one another, so simplyaim for the headwith each shot.
A Vulture: When It Moves, It Spreads
The Cultist on the far side of the bonfirepaces back and forth.Shoot the Cultist to his right first so that you’re closer to him, thenhit him while he’s moving.
The Cultist standing nearest to the bonfire will alsostart to fleeif he sees someone die. Once he starts running,shoot him.
Being Stuck: Gas Tanks Make The World Burn Brighter
Shooting the gas tank on a car will cause it to explode,killing any nearby Cultistsand sometimes causing a chain reaction.Run to the leftand shoot the gas tank that the leftmost Cultist is filling. From there,look through the grass to the rightto find another tank that you can shoot. This won’t kill any Cultists, but gives you aclear shot at the gas tank on the truckwhere the remaining three enemies congregate.

Removing Evidence: Bullets That Burn Are Bullets That Hurt
Move to the right until you have a shot at theCultist in the rightmost house. From his window, you canshoot through the bonfireto one of the Cultists tending it, then proceed to eliminate the rest of the group.
Hiding Bodies: Appealing Views From The Top
The birds are visible from the Girl’s starting position, though it helps tomove a little bit to the left.Use your newly-acquiredTelekinesisto change your bullet’s flight path, since the birds are small, moving targets.
It can be tough to keep track of both birds, so tryshooting the nearest bird firstand keeping an eye on the second bird while your bullet is in flight.
Once both birds are hit, simplyaim downwardand start taking out the Cultists, starting with the one outside the garage.
Old Home: Open Gates Through Their Hearts
The front door of the barn-turned church doesn’t give you much room, but with Telekinesis you canfire through it from the starting positionand guide your shot to one of the Cultists inside.
With careful Telekinesis, you can even fireall the way from one end of the church to the otherand blow up the car in the back, killing the two Cultists next to it. Don’t forget to hit the Cultist alone on the other side of the hay bales, as it will be hard to get back to him once you go back inside.
Gallery Of Heads: Two In One
Move to the rightuntil you have a clear shot at thegas tank on the pickup truck.One Cultist is stationary and leans on the truck; another patrols the outside of the building.Wait for the patrolling Cultistto be near the bed of the truckbefore taking your shot, and the explosion should kill both.
Once you’ve taken out the Cultists in the yard,wait for the one on the stairs to come down, then use him to reach the gas tank on the other vehicle. It’s far enough away from the tower that you canuse Telekinesisto curve through the window and reach the targets upstairs.
Occupied Village: You Can See Them All
Move back and forth to get sight lines to all five Cultists. From left to right, they are:
Breaking Contact: The Sun Shines Through
Shoot the two Cultists on the far side of the bridge in their weak points to charge your meter, thendetonate the gas tankof one of the cars on the bridge. The explosion should kill the Cultist underneath.
Fire from the tank toward the sky, andredirect the bulletthrough the hole in the roof to hit the shielded Cultist. It’s a precise shot, so you might need a few tries.
Filled With Blood: Drifting Into Their Conclusion
Aim for the group on the left side. You can eitherfire just as the car is turning the corner to pass the spectators, and guide your bullet to the gas tank with telekinesis, orshoot the car behind the spectators firstto get a closer shot at your target.
Manufacturing Lies: Some Are On The Run
This one is easy, since you need to eliminate all the Cultists anyway. It doesn’t matter if youtake the driver out with a headshotor bydetonating his gas tank.
Losing Track: Just Passing Through
Shoot Cultists near the tracks to build up your meter, thenfire through a train car as it approaches.Use Telekinesis to guide the bullet through until the Challenge completes, then maneuver out and upward as much as you can.
When you’re in the sky,use your meter to redirect the bulletto another target, usually a car or Cultist on the bridge opposite the Girl’s sniping position.
Gas Station: Most Can Burn, But Inside They Can’t
Shoot the armored Cultist inside the gas station first to ensure that you have enough distance to build up a Power Shot. Once he’s down,shoot the cars outside in sequenceto blow up the remaining enemies.
Main Street: 350 Meters Are A Long Way
You should be able to rack up 350 meters just in the course of completing the level, especially if youcross the street multiple timesoruse cars to get better firing angles.
There’s a Cultist behind the counter in the shopunder the roof that you start on; he can be tricky to spot, so look for him when the bullet is at street level.
Open Mic Night In Hell: He Is Blocking The Entrance
Once you’ve shot the first target, you’ll have a clear lane toeliminate the Cultists congregating in the courtyard.Blow up the truck to dispatch most of them in one shot, thenpick off any stragglers, saving the armored Cultist on the walkway to the right for last.
From the walkway,curve your bullet around the buildingto hit the cultist waiting on the balcony back on the side you started on. Save up your meter as you finish off the rest, saving your redirect toshoot away from the building, then turn aroundto build up enough momentum for a Power Shot to kill the armored target near the roof.
This Is No Paradise: Through Their Homes
Start by shooting one or both of the Cultists by the pool to build up your meter. Once you’re ready,shoot the Cultist in the windownear the pool. From there,fire past the Cultist down the halland use redirect your bullet to reverse course and hit himonce it passes through to the far room and the Challenge completes.
Idolatry: Precise Deviation Might Get Things On Fire
you’re able to see the truck from your starting position; trymarking itto make aiming easier. Aim through the very bottom edge of the psychic barrier, directly at the gas tank. This way, the bullet will be minimally affected and should still find its target.
Once the truck blows up,kill the remaining cultist behind the church, then make your way back through the building to take out the rest.
The shield flickers when it affects a bullet, so if you pass by it on the way to a target you should have a shot at the horned Cultist within.
Bury Your Past: Avoid The Debris
Save some meter for the final target; when they’re the only one left,shoot through the debris fieldthen redirect to hit them once the Challenge is satisfied.
Four more Cultists will spawn when the 45-second timer expires; as long as you haven’t killed the last of the original Cultists before that happens, you’ll complete the Challenge.
The easiest way to do this is tosimply wait before taking your shot.This may complicate your route, since there will betwo more psychic barriers in place, however.
Enter The Heart: Consecutive Prayers Kill
If you have enough meter for a redirect when you kill the first horned Cultist, you can simplyclip the second one’s barrierto weaken it, then turn around mid-flight and finish him off.
Valley Path: Direct Hits Hit The Hardest
You’ll need to make judicious use of all three of your powers to complete this challenge. Start byimmediately shooting the armored Cultist underneath the lower barrierbefore he starts moving. Next,shoot the Cultist by the rear truck;the bullet should pass close enough to the barrier to disable it. Quicklyshoot one of the other two armored Cultists, then shoot the horned Cultist whose barrier you weakened. If you’re fast enough, you’ll get him before his barrier regenerates.
From there,use Telekinesisto hit the Cultist with the riot shield on the left side of the bridge. Next,bounce your bullet off the remaining barrierand redirect it to pick off the last armored Cultist on the ground. While the horned Cultist’s barrier is still out, useTelekinesisto eliminate him.
A headshot to the Cultist at the right side of the bridge should be enough to fill your meter for one last redirect;shoot along the valleyuntil you’re far enough a way for a Power Shot, then take out the last enemy on the bridge.
