With the flowing green Grasslands Region behind us, it’s time to turn to the Junon Region as Cloud and the rest of his party advance through the ebbs and flows ofFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth’sstory and massive world, presenting newer and more formidable challenges than ever before.

But, first things first, Chadley needs you to get your hands on another Protorelic, except this one has a strange twist, having you fight for your life in several matches of Fort Condor. This strategy-based mini-game is much more simplified than what was present in the Intergrade expansion from the previous installment!

Fort Condor Overview

As briefly covered above, the Fort Condor mini-game present in Rebirth is a bit different and more simplified than the one found in the Intergrade expansion of Remake. Even so, it can be challenging if you aren’t familiar with the rules.

Before diving into the first instance of Fort Condor, let’s cover the basics. First things first,Fort Condor operates on a’Rock, Paper, Scissors’system, which goes as follows:

Hero Units

Next, this iteration of Fort Condor also hasHero Units, which you canplace on the field of battle for tremendous damage and offensive prowess. To do this, you mustfill up their Hero Gaugebyplacing units of their classonto the board.

For example, sinceCloud is a Shield Unit, youmust place Shield Units on the field to build his Hero Gaugeup. Once it’s maxed out, you can place Cloud on the board bypressing L1 twice and selecting him from the Hero Menu. The table below will have even more information on Hero Units!

Incoming Enemy Units

Before we move on, it is crucial to point out that youcan see all incoming Enemy Units and the lanes they will be coming downin by looking at thetwo long tracks on the UIon the right side of the screen, below the timer.

This is crucial because if yousee an Arrow Unit queueing up on the left lane, you canswiftly toss a Sword Unit into that lane to counter themwhen they arrive, enabling you to secure that lane even further and push the towers!

Now that the basics have been tackled, it’s time to dive into thefirst of fourFort Condorgames you must tackle to get your hands on the Protorelic in theJunon Region. To begin this, head to thesouthwest cornerof the region and head toward thelarge boat that’s split in halfon the shore. Interact with the Fort Condor board in the area.

Fort Condor Skirmish Strategy

We suggest sticking withCloud and Tifaas yourprimary Hero Unitto prevail in this skirmish. Thedefault Unit Groupwill also suffice, as the challenge won’t be too intense just yet. If you place your troops correctly, you will have their Warlord destroyed in minutes.

The moment the skirmish kicks off, theenemy will send two Sword Units down the rightlane, meaning you mustsend at least one Shield Unit down the rightlane to counter them. Wesuggestsendingone Shield Unit and one of your Clericsdown this lane, as they will be handy for healing.

Next, you will seetwo Arrow Units being queued for the leftlane, but they won’t be out on the field for a bit. This gives you ample time tosave up for an Elite Vanguard(Sword Unit), which will make quick work of them in that lane. Doing these steps off the bat will also fill both Hero Gauges quite well.

From here, you’re in the driving seat and can see what they’re about to throw your waymiles before they appear, giving youample time to place the Units necessary to countertheir attack. And, once yourHero Gauges are full, summon Cloud and Tifaonto the battlefield to secure your victory!

Junon Region - Phenomenon Intel 2: O Captain! My Captain!

Just eastof thepreviousFort Condormatch, you will find thesecondone awaiting you on anisland.Approach the board and interact with it just like last time to be pulled into the game and ready your units.

Unlike the previous match, you will want to selectTifa and Barretas yourHero Unitsthis time around, as they will be much more helpful in the grand scheme of things. However, like last time, thedefault Unit Group will be more than enoughfor victory.

When the game begins, place anElite Enforcer(Shield) in theright lane, followed by astandard Enforcer(Shield) tocombat the incoming Sword Unitsfrom the enemy. Then, call in yourCleric Unitalong with astandard Vanguard(Sword) to deal with the other incoming enemy Units.

Theleft lane will be pretty bare for a while,so take this opportunity tohit the right lane hard.If you can counter everything they’re throwing at you in the right lane andget Tifa summonedin, you will secure victory relatively effortlessly.

After aprolonged period, theleft lane will get some actionin the form ofShield Units, soretaliate with Arrow Unitsto further build upBarret’s Hero Gauge. If that reaches max capacity, we suggesttossing him into the right lane with Tifato win even faster!

Junon Region - Phenomenon Intel 3: Princess In Another Castle

Further eastfrom theprevious Fort Condor board, across the enormous bridge, will be thethird challenge, which is a bit more challenging than the last two. However, you will have it beaten quickly with the proper strategies and insights!

Fort Condor Skirmish Strategies

Just like the last skirmish, you will want to roll withBarret and Tifaas yourHero Units.Thedefault Unit Groupwill also work nicely for this matchup as well, so don’t worry about changing that. While this will be a bit more challenging than the others, it’s not by much, so expect more of the same here!

At thestartof the skirmish, we suggest placing theCleric Unit and an Elite Ranger(Bow) in the right lane to counter the incoming enemy forces in that lane. Then, for theleft lane, you will have more than enough time to wait for anElite Vanguard Unit(Sword) to counter the incoming Bow Unit.

From here, we recommendplacing yet another Cleric Unit in the rightlane, as things will get a bit rocky there in a moment. Following that, you shouldplace another Elite Vanguard(Sword)in the leftlane to offer greater support in that lane. Then, you shouldtoss a standard Shield Unit into the rightlane to help ward off the lone enemy Sword Unit.

After that, theleft lane will need at least a standard Bow Unitto help eliminate the enemy’s Shield Units. We suggest placing two Bow Unitsinto the left lane andsummoning Tifa there afterwardto help eliminate the opponent’s incoming Shield Units.

Call inanother Bow Unit to fill Barret’s Hero Gauge, buthold onto himfor now and let your current Units take out the towers and converge onto the boss. Call in anElite Enforcer Unit and a standard one(Shield), thenanother Sword Unit before dropping Barretinto the mix. Once he’s out, it’s game over for your opponent. Just keep dropping in units as you see fit and close it out!

Junon Region - Phenomenon Intel 4: Interdimensional Warlock

In thenortheast corner of the region, thefourth and final Fort Condor skirmishawaits you, offering a decent challenge to cap things off. However, if you’ve made it this far, you will be more than ready to take down your opponent and secure the region’s Protorelic!

Just like the previous two skirmishes,Tifa and Barretwill serve as yourHero Units, with thedefault Unit Groupbeing your go-to for victory. Once in the skirmish, yourfirst moveshould be placing aCleric Unitand anElite Enforcer Unit(Shield)into theright lane.

From there, placing anElite Vanguard(Sword) into theleft lanealong with astandard Bow Unitwill help take care of that lane for the time being. Following that, toss another Cleric Unit into the rightlane and astandard Bow Unit into the leftlane for extra security.

Your next step will be towait for an Elite Vanguard Unit(Sword) to come online andtoss it into the leftlane, bringing Tifa online. But don’t use herjust yet. Turn yourfocus onto the rightlane and drop anElite Ranger(Bow) there to help secure the lane.

You shouldnow have access to Tifa and Barret.First, summon Tifain, alongside anotherSword Unit, andhold off on calling Barretin. The boss in the center of the enemy’s base will change its attack type, sowait for it to switch to a Shield before calling Barret in.From here on out, justfocus on calling in Units that counter what the boss has selected, and you are golden!

Clearing the fourth Fort Condor challenge will grant you the Protorelic of the Junon Region, along with another sick cutscene that makes your struggles worth it. Additionally, a Hard Mode of Fort Condor will also become available if you want the ultimate challenge!
