Stardew Valley’s1.6 update introduced a wealth of new content to the game, including some additional fun for anglers and fishing enthusiasts. The 1.6 update added bobber skins, lures, bait, water sources, and, best of all, a different kind of fish for you to collect.
TheGobyis a fish that can be found exclusively in the waterfalls of Cindersap Forest. To catch the Goby, you’ll need to be equipped with a quality rod, some tasty fish bait, a good lure, and lots and lots of patience. Despite being available at all times, the catch rate on this slippery fish is pretty low.

Where To Find The Goby
Not all fish inhabit the same waters, and while some fish might be caught in multiple places, theGoby isn’t one of them. Unfortunately, there isonly one spotwhere you’re able to find and catch the Goby: the twinwaterfalls of Cindersap Forest.
To find the Goby’s special waters, head down to thesoutheastern corner of Cindersap Forestand park yourself by the waterfalls. You’ll find the twin waterfallsto the leftof where spring onions growand where you can enter the sewer grate.

The bad news is you canonlycatch the Goby in these two waterfalls in Cindersap Forest, but the good news is that you can catch the Goby atany time of dayandduring any season or weather. This means you won’t need to plan for a rainy day to devote time to catching the Goby.
How To Catch The Goby
The Goby is one of Stardew’s more elusive fish, and catching it won’t be easy. Thecatch ratefor the Goby is a measly15 percent, and while that may sound like a lot, that 15 percent is competing with quite a few other fish in the proverbial sea.
To boost your chances of hooking this strange new fish, you will need tobring your best rod, bait, and lurewith you.

To catch the Goby, head to the twin waterfalls of Cindersap Forest and cast into thetwo pools at the bottomof the waterfall. Casting your rod intothe lake won’t workfor this one, and all you’ll end up with is lake fish. You’llstill get lake fishin the waterfalls, but you will at least have achance at the Goby.
In order to make sure you’re fishing in the right area, make sure that when you cast your rod, it’s landing ineither one of the bottom two poolsof the waterfalls. Both the left and rightwaterfalls contain the Goby, but only if you cast into thelower pools.

Best Bait And Lure For The Goby
Best Bait
Like all other fish in Stardew’s 1.6 Update, the Goby now has its own special bait:Goby Bait. To get Goby bait, you can eitherbuy it from Willy, whorandomizesthe kind of bait he sells in his shop daily, or you canplace a Goby into the new Bait Maker.
Placing a fish in the Bait Maker will give you anywhere fromfive to tenspecialized bait pieces for the input fish. So, if you input the Goby, you’ll getaround five to ten pieces of Goby Bait. Goby Bait willimprove your chancesof catching a Gobyto 35 percent. That’s a solid 20-point increase!

However, the likelihood of acquiring Goby Bait before you have ever caught the Goby is slim. There’sno guaranteeon what specialized bait Willy will sell on any given day, and in order to use the Bait Maker to get Goby Bait, you first need to have a Goby. Thus, using Goby Baitto increase your chances of catching the fish is more helpfullaterin your playthrough.
If you have aTelephonein your house, you cancall Willy’s shopto see what his inventory is for the day.
Best Lure
The best lure for the Goby is theCuriosity Lure. The Curiosity Lureincreases your chancesof catchingrarefish. In the case of the Goby, your chances increasefrom 15 percent to 30 percent, effectivelydoubling your chancesof catching it.
