Building has never been so intuitive in The Sims series as it is inThe Sims 4. You’re able to pick up entire rooms and move them, drag out walls to make rooms bigger without sacrificing decorations, and so much more. All of this makes it easier than ever to make incredible builds like you’ve never done before.

One of the most eye-catching ways to build in Sims 4 is building an entire house underwater. Your Sim’s house will be the talk of the town when every window shows you an underwater paradise. The best part is that once you know how to build underwater, it’s easy to do.

How To Build A Lot Underwater

To begin,you’ll need to start building on a large empty lot. While you can build underwater on any lot, it’s better to have more space to decorate more in the water. From there,build the shape of the house as if you were building above ground. This makes it easier to know where to build the pool.

Once you have the shape of the house, take the basement tool andbuild the exact same shape as a basement. Now you have where your home will be. If you decide to alter the shape, make sure to add it on the main level of the lot, too.

How To Add Water

Once you have your house shape, it’s time to add the water. Choose the Fountains and Pools section of Build Mode, and clickCustom Pool Shape.Follow the outline of the house, andbe sure to leave a few tiles at the frontof the house for an entrance. Draw the walkway you want, then draw to the boundaries of the lot.

Connect the Custom Pool Tool lines together to get the pool to surround the house entirely. Now, you candelete the walls above ground. You now have an underwater house.

It will not be cheap to build an entire house underwater since you’ll need to pay plenty of Simoleons for the pool to surround the lot. Just open the cheat console by hittingShift + Ctrl + C, and typemotherlodein, then hit enter. This will give your Sims plenty of money.

How To Build An Entrance

For your Sims to enter the house properly, you’ll need to have an entrance. You should have left a path at the front of the lot when building the pool.Build a basement on this pathwayfor space for the stairs to lead down to the entrance. Then, you can pick any stairs of your choosing.

Place the stairs down facing the entrance, and now your Sims can walk down to the entrance. Place a front door, and your Sims can now enter the house.

Decorating The Underwater House

Now that the house is built under the water, you’re free to decorate it. You can decorate the house the same way you would decorate a normal house, by building rooms, choosing wallpaper and floor tiles, and placing furniture.

Something fun you can do is build a rooftop oasis for Sims to enjoy.Place a staircase anywhere in the house leading up to the roof, and build a small room around it with a door. Your Sims can then walk up to the rooftop and enjoy any furniture you place up there.

Another good thing to do isplace objects and decorations in the pool, so it looks more like a natural pond. You can place rocks and plants in the pool on the basement level to see them through windows in the house.

On the main floor level, there are plenty ofpool and fountain decorationsyou can use, including changing the water style. This can make a huge difference on both the outside and inside look of the house.

Building Underwater On Waterfront Lots

If building an underwater lot on Sulani sounds perfect, you may be interested to try it out for yourself. Sadly though,there’s no way to build underwater lots in Sulani without mods. This is becauseyou cannot build below ground level on waterfront lots.

While in the past some players have been able to bypass this by using foundations, this has been patched out. As of the most recent update,the only way to build a house underwater on Sulani is by using mods.

A specific mod, calledCoastal Basements and Pools, lets you bypass the restrictions and build pools and basements on waterfront lots. Using it, you can follow the same steps as above to build an underwater home.
