When you’re trying to build an army, your defensive characters are often unsung heroes. InUnicorn Overlord,you don’t need to look any further than your old friend Lex for a decent tank to add to your Units. Lex is one of the first characters Alain recruits to his cause. Lex is primarily a defensive unit specialising in blocking Physical Attacks from reaching your back row.
Lex is a Fighter class character who can be promoted into a Vanguard. His greatest assets are his high physical defense and HP stats, so you will need the right Weapons, Shields, Accessories, and Skills to make the most of him.
Lex Overview
Lex isprimarily a defense-oriented character, though he also has decent options for attacking. His Physical Defense, HP, and Guard stats are by far his most valuableand will help himdefend his allies in the back row.
If you’re facing off against enemies who do really powerful physical ranged attacks, Lex is a great choice to add to your Unit because he excels in defending against these kinds of physical attacks.

Fighters are good at fighting enemies (especiallyHunters) andprotecting the allies behind them.

Lex cannot defend against Magick attacks or attacks that bypass armour.
How To Recruit Lex
Whenlooking to recruit characters, know thatLex is available automatically.You will always have him at your disposal throughout the game.
You are also able to have Alain marry Lex.
Best Equipment For Lex
Lex’s Equipment shouldcapitalise on his defensive capabilitiesand allow him to provide greater means of defense. It’s also not a bad idea to equip him withitems that will improve his HP and Guard stats.
Templar’s Sword
This sword is great if Lex’s primary role in his Unit is for him to provide defense. This is especially useful if many of his allies are squishy.
Sanguine Blade
This sword is useful because it allows him to periodicallyincrease his HP with Sanguine Attack. If there is no healer in his Unit, consider equipping the Sanguine Blade and allowing him to be on the field longer. This is especially helpful if he gets hit by some powerful Magickal attacks.
Steel Sword

This sword is useful if you don’t have the Templar’s Sword or the Sanguine Blade, or if you want Lex to be a little bit more offensive.
Blue Rose Shield
This shield is a great choice if you want toincrease Lex’s defensive capabilities.
Templar’s Shield
This shield is good if you haveequipped Lex with the Sanguine Bladeor if he is in thesame Unit as a healer. It also increases his overall defensive stats.
Azure Crest Shield
This shield is great for increasing Lex’s defensive stats and for giving himone extra PP.
Gold Bangle
This is a good choice if you want to increase Lex’s Physical Defense stat and give him a little bitmore protection against Magick.
Gauntlets
The Gauntlets give Lex a small boost in Physical Defense andboost his Guard Rate, making his defensive actions just a little bit stronger. This can be useful when you really need it.
Brown Beret
If you want toincrease Lex’s offensive statsa little bit while still maintaining his incredible defense, try giving him the Brown Beret.
Carnelian Pendent
If you don’t feel the need to increase Lex’s Physical Defense stat, or you just want someextra AP, the Carnelian Pendant is a good choice.
Promoting Lex
Promoting Lex changes his class from Fighter toVanguard.This change willgreatly improve his defensive statsand increase his resistance against ranged attacks.
If you really need a good tank for one of your Units, Promoting Lex is a fantastic way to do that.
Unfortunately,Vanguard does not increase his defensive capabilities against Magick Attacks, so if you’re predicting that you will need more defense against them, it may be best to go with another character.
Lex’s Best Skills
Lex’s Skills specialise in protecting his allies and increasing his own Defense stat.
