With the threat of cannibal invasion always looming inSons of the Forest, it’s good to know how to prepare defenses that can keep you and your base safe when the worst happens. Thankfully, the sequel to The Forest has noticeably increased the building options and abilities, so making a defensive wall is a breeze.
You can use your choice of wood and other defensive materials, but you won’t place a blueprint like you would with pre-made structures or furniture. Instead, you’ll need to make sure you prepare the materials before you’re able to optimize your wall and protect your base from any threatening forces.

How To Make A Defensive Wall
Whilethe building manual will give you a basic ideaon how to create a ‘Defensive Wall,’ its doodles are far from a comprehensive guide to protecting your base. To properly build your wall and defend your base, you’ll need to manually place each logand then cut the pointed top.
Once you’ve cut down a tree, you’lltake the log to where you want to place itand then press the prompted button toswitch it from lying down horizontally to vertically, as shown by the circular prompt.

After you place the first log, you can see when otherlogs are in a straight line with a line in the circleat any 90-degree angle. Thisisn’t a requirementunless you want a section to act as a door, which will need a straight row of posts.
Kelvin willautomatically cut the tops off the wallif he is set to ‘Maintain Base’ mode.

If you place a log in a bad spot, you canpick it back up by pressing the ‘Dismantle’ button. Once you’ve got a good stretch of wall, you cancut the tops off to get spikesby approaching the wall with your axe equipped. Red lines will show as a pointed tip when close enough.
Once you have five or six posts to your wall, you cantake another log and line it up on the sideto place it diagonally. This will allow you to open and close the wall like a door, with thelower side of the beam acting as the hinge side.
This canalso be removed and replacedagain, changing the door.
