Final Fantasy 7 Rebirthfeatures a number of iconic summon monsters from across the series' history, most of which appeared in the classic FF7 as well. Each of the game’s wide-open regions is home to myths about a particular mythical creature, and finding their shrines unlocks easier versions of their fights.

But what if you don’t want things so easy? Or what if the easier versions are still causing trouble - which isn’t remotely outside the realm of possibility when they pack such a punch? Your first contender is the massive and muscular Titan, and we’ll tell you how to win on every setting.

How To Unlock Every Tier For Titan’s Battle

Before you’re able to begin the process of unlockingTitan’s three decreasingly difficult fight settings, you will need to have reunited with Remake robot boyChadley at Bill’s Chocobo Ranch.

The story sends you here rather quickly; justfollow the map objective to the swamp, which will prompt you to double back to the ranch.

If you visit Bill’s Chocobo Ranch ahead of schedule, Chadley won’t be there yet.

Merely conversing with Chadley - which is required, so no worries there! -unlocks Titan’s hardest mode. The trouble is, Titan’s hardest mode will benext to impossible when you first gain access to it. The fight is very much intended for higher-leveled parties.

Withoutfinding Titan’s shrines in the Grasslands, then, you’ll be waiting a lot longer to add its Materia to your arsenal. Instead, activate Remnawave Towers, which will help fill the map withDivine Intelmarkers denoting shrines.

It’s a bit more complex -you’ll learn to slash special boxes that will leave trails of lighttoward the shrines. The important thing to understand here is thatevery time you find one of the three shrines, you unlock a progressively weaker Titan fight.

How To Beat Titan On Lower And Lowest Difficulties

Whether you’re fighting him on the easiest difficulty or the hardest,Titan is essentially the same battle. But whereas he hits like a truck atFull Might, his blows are less significant onLower Power and Lowest Power.

But if you’re fighting Titanas soon as you’ve reached the second and third shrines, thus unlock the Lower and Lowest Power modes, you’re still in for a rather tough encounter.

Cloud and Barret standing side by side against Titan in Ff7 Rebirth

For starters,we recommend a party of Cloud, Aerith and Red XIII. Conversely,Barret’s range is handy.

Cloud’s yourever-reliable all-rounder, and he works as intended versus Titan. Aerith’s here to castAero and Cure, though she’ll have some more utility we’ll get into later. Red XIIIis terrific at blocking and building up Vengeance Mode.

Keep Aerith On Support Duty

Keep Aerith at a comfortable distance, which you can (mostly) guarantee byonly switching to her when you need to. Enemies in FF7 Rebirth tend to prioritize your actively controlled character, albeit to a somewhat lesser extent than in Remake.

Remember that you may always issue commands to other characters by pulling up theCommand Bar; though sometimes, you’ll want that manual control.

Aerith’s job here is topressure with Aero, heal with Cure, and supply the party her familiar via Tempestfor extra stack damage.Sorcerous Stormis a solid choice as well, especially if youfind yourself needing to conserve MP- which, frankly, you will.

Along similar lines,Pray costs both ATB bar charges, but it’s often worth it to wait things out until you get there. Even when the Materia hasn’t hit higher levels yet,the MP-saving multitarget heals are excellent.

Aerith comes equipped with the Prayer Materia by default - keep it on her!

Remember To Block!

You’re going to run into some real trouble with Titan if you don’t make good strategic use ofCloud’s automatic blocking via Punisher Mode.

This isn’t going to save you from Titan’sspecial attacks, likeEarthen Roarand especially thehuge area-of-effect attack Earthquake.

ButTitan tends to combo his melee attacks, and Cloud can not only resist them, but outrightrepel them, if you spend time keeping him glued to defense.

Red XIII’s blocking is especially decent, and you’ll becharging his Vengeance Mode, which you can then unleash forrapid damage output.

You’ll also want to use the Vengeance-Mode-onlySiphon Fangto get some of that HP back that Titan will be relentlessly shredding.

Boulders, Grabbers, And Earthen Aegis

Titan will sometimessnag one of your party members, temporarily rendering them incapacitated. But you don’thaveto get hit by it. If you cantime your evasion well enough, you’ll get away scot-free.

Even if you don’t,the grabbed character isn’t hit too hard; it’s more of an inconvenience. You’ll also need to keep a close watch whenTitan begins to erect several boulders in a surrounding pattern, as not only do they deal damage; you may also get someone’trapped' in itfor a bit.

A couple of times,Titan will use Earthen Aegis, which renders itlargely invulnerableuntil this new barrier is destroyed.Earthen Aegis becomes targetable, serving as a discrete enemy part.

Focus your strikes on it until it’s done and dusted, of course. But don’t be afraid to smack Titan a few times with specific moves. We’ve managed to pressureTitan a bit with Aeroand Wind-elemental character abilitieseven now.

Itwilltake a while if you go head-to-head with these lower-tier Titan variants early on, butkeep whittling away at Titan’s high HPand you will get there in due time.
