Now, you’re ready to confront the Nightmare and put an end to the curse once and for all. It’s a daunting task for the banishers, Red and Antea, but it’s one they must complete successfully.
The Nightmare is the root cause of all the turmoil in New Eden, and facing her is no small feat. However, with a strategic approach and a thorough understanding of her attacks, you’re able to stay one step ahead and finally defeat her for good.

The Nightmare Attacks
First Phase
The Nightmare encounter comprisestwo distinct phases, both of which you must overcome.
At the onset of the battle, the Nightmare summons additional illusions of herself, each mirroring her attacks. However, only one of these illusions is real, andit’s imperative to dispatch the impostors swiftly.

In close proximity, she unleashesa relentless melee combo consisting of four attacks. Each strike is punctuated bya brief delay, providingan opportunity to dodge or create distance.
Another close-range assault involves her raising her hand, imbuing it with magical energy resembling a sword beforeslashing toward you. Alternatively, she may unleasha homing wave of projectile magic.

Periodically, the Nightmare charges herself, emitting a piercing scream followed by a small area-of-effect attack.
Throughout the battle, she teleports incessantly across the arena, often materializing behind you to launch a melee assault.

As her health diminishes, the Nightmare introduces a new attack when shelifts herself before charging at you with a powerful grab, inflicting substantial damage.
Watch foran indicatorsignaling her impending charge, serving as a prompt to dodge.

Throughout the entire fight, the Nightmarecontinually summons illusions of herself, adding a layer of challenge to the encounter.
Second Phase
After defeating the Nightmare, she reemerges as Retribution, sportinga new health bar and intensified attacks.
Retributionretains all her previous assaults from the first phasewhile introducing additional ones.

One new attack involves hersending damaging forces through the ground, homing in on you. These forces are easily discernible on the ground, allowing for effective evasion. Another ranged attack consists of herlaunching two projectiles—one from the left and one from the right—that converge on you, inflicting damage from both sides.
Watch for hercharging up to anticipate and dodge these projectiles.

As Retribution’s health diminishes, she introduces a new attack whereshe fills the ground with damaging oozewhile continuing to execute her previous assaults.
In her final health segment, Retributionsummons an illusion of the Beast boss, whichcharges toward youand initiates an attack.

The Nightmare Strategy
Fighting the Nightmare is no walk in the park. She’s got a bag full of tricks, both up close and from afar. To come out on top, approach the battle like you would with any tough boss in a Souls-like game:patience is key;study her patterns, and strike when you spot an opening.
During the fight, keep your guard up at all times. Stamina isn’t a concern, so maintain a defensive stance to protect yourself from unexpected attacks.

When the Nightmare summons her illusions, deal with them first. They not only mimic her attacks but pack quite a punch themselves.Clearing them out swiftly lets you focus your attention on the real deal.
UsingAntea’s Outburst Manifestationis a quick way to dispatch those illusions.
Once the illusions are out of the picture, keep an eye on the Nightmare’s next move. If she unleashes her four-hit melee combo, dodge each strike and then counterattack.
Alternatively, you can fall back and switch to Antea, use herLeap Manifestation to close the gap and land some blows.

After dealing with the illusions, wait for the Nightmare’s next move. If she initiates her four-hit melee combo, dodge each strikebefore counterattacking.
Alternatively, create distance between you and her, then switch to Antea and use her Leap Manifestation to close the gap and strike.
Dodging the Nightmare’s ranged attacks is key. Her scream attack has a noticeable wind-up, giving you time to evade and retaliate.
Don’t neglect your rifle;use it to land headshots while keeping your distance.
Dodging her grab attack is pretty straightforward since she givesan indicator before charging at you. When she does, switch to Antea, use the Leap Manifestation, and land a few attacks before stepping back.
This sums up the first phase: eliminate the illusions, wait for openings, and conserve your Decoction for the second phase.
Now that you’ve dealt with the Nightmare, it’s time to face her Retribution form. For the second phase, stick to the same strategy as before, but feel free to use your Decoction more liberally.
She mostly repeats the same attacks from the first phase, so you know how to handle them. If she teleports excessively, use Antea’s Ensnare Manifestation to briefly trap herand then unleash your damage before the ensnarement wears off.
The ground force attacks are easy to avoid sinceyou can see their trajectory, just like her other ranged attacks. So just make sure to dodge them as soon as they approach you.
After you’ve depleted the first portion of her health and executed the Banish attack, she’ll introduce damaging ooze into the arena.Avoid them at all costs, even if she teleports near one.Stay out of range and lure her toward you instead.
For the final portion of her health, keep an eye out for her Beast attacks. There’s usuallya brief delay before she performs them, so you’re able to anticipate them. Also, continue dealing with all her other attacks accordingly.
It’s very important toswitch to Antea frequently, since she basically can’t die. Once her spirit meter is empty, you’ll automatically switch back to Red.
That sums up the entire fight:take it slow, observe her movements, strike when there’s an opportunity, andavoid being too greedy.Save your healing resources for the second phase and utilize all the skills you’ve acquired on your journey back to New Eden Town.
