With different kinds of gameplay across a variety of missions, there are also different hazards you’ll experience on your missions. Whether you almost get crushed by a meteor strike or suddenly find yourself in a fire tornado, here are the various environmental hazards in Helldivers 2.
What Are Environmental Conditions In Helldivers 2?
In Helldivers 2, you’ll notice that pretty muchevery planet across the galaxy will have certain conditions assigned to them. These are ways tomake gameplay unique across different planets, as well as adding difficulty to your missions.
When you areon your ship’s navigation console, there is anexpandable tab in the lower right corner of your screenthat shows what hazards are part of a planet.
These can impact your missions in major ways, either byaffecting your weaponsor creating dangerous conditionsas you run around.

How To Play Around Environmental Hazards
Some conditions willlast the entire duration of your missions, and you should plan accordingly. Dealing with conditions like Extreme Cold and Rainstorms won’t ruin your plans, but here are some tips.
As you drop into a mission, you will eventually get awarning when other occasional planetary hazards are about to occur. Usually, there will bea notification at the top of your screen.
How To Handle Meteor Storms
When it comes toMeteor Storms, you’ll be told when they begin, thena barrage of meteors will fall out of the skyand crash to the ground. Unfortunately,where meteors fall seems to be random. Even if you’re constantly on the move, you might get crushed by a meteor.
Technically,a very faint light on the ground will indicate where a meteor is about to hit.This can be hard to see on various terrain, especially when you are running around.
How To Handle Fire Tornadoes
Anotification will warn you about Fire Tornadoesbefore they spawn near your location. In general, you’ll always want to stay far away from them toavoid them burning you and setting you on fire.
If you’re in the middle of a heated firefight, avoiding them is more difficult, since you might not be able to just run away. If you getcaught in a Fire Tornado, you will need toquickly administer your healing Stim.This cancounter the burning effects, and keep you alive.
Fire Tornadoes damage your enemies,just like they would damage you. Tryleading them in the pathway of a fire tornado as you’re fighting, especially if it’s an enemy likethe Terminid Charger.
Operation Modifiers In Helldivers 2, Explained
In addition to the environmental conditions you’ll face, you might also see anOperation Modifieras you go to select an operation to complete. These won’t be the same across every mission on the same planet, but will betied to the individual missions themselves.
Operation Modifiers are also usually activatedwhen you choose missions on higher difficulties.
