WhenFinal Fantasy 7launched on thePlayStation 1, it used the hardware’s technology to create a dense world filled with spectacular environments and themes that resonate just as strongly today as they did back then. After its success, the developers at Square Enix decided to expand the universe of Final Fantasy 7 with even more games, an animated movie, books, and more.

All of these different world-building products are considered to be part of the Compilation of Final Fantasy 7 and take place before, during, and after the events of the original game. Most of these expansions have arrived as video games, but therehave been so many over the last two decadesthat it’s become hard to remember just how many there are.

Square Enix also developed a remake of Crisis Core that came out between Remake and Rebirth, which meansthere are three Final Fantasy 7 remakes so far.
