In addition to being one of the most sincere and moving video game narratives in a long time,Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealthis also one of the funniest games in recent memory. It doesn’t strive for punchlines and jokes and instead derives most of its humor from the characters and the often absurd situations they find themselves in.
The minigames and substories are also a great source for laughs. The moments detailed below might make you laugh until tears come from your eyes. It’s a good thing too, because plenty of other moments are so emotionally driven, you’ll be crying tears of sadness or sorrow.

7Kasuga And Saeko’s Relationship
Chapter One And Chapter 14
Though the two only speak to each other in the game’s beginning and ending, Ichiban Kasuga’s relationship with Saeko Mukoda is a vital part of the narrative. It’s also one of the funniest parts of the game. From Nanba and Adachi’s contrasting advice to his overzealous admission of love driving Saeko away, it is both the source of laughter and facepalms.During their date, Kasuga thinks Saeko is inviting him to a hotel for some hanky-panky when really she just wants to have a cigarette. During the very end of the game, he reveals a shirt he made that has two hears with “Ichiban loves Saekho” written on one side and “Saeko loves Ichiban” on the other, which causes her to run for the hills.
6Seonhee Beating Up Utamaru
Yokohama Underground
Seonhee is known for being cold and distant as a boss, but we’ve seen her be more joyful during her time in the party. However, her subordinates rarely, if ever, see this side of her. In the Yokohama Underground dungeon side quest, you see her beat the tar out of Utamaru several times. At the end of the quest you actually have to fight him as he tries to turn the tables on Seonhee and the party, but he loses and she ends up smacking him around again. As funny as this is, stomping on somebody with a high heel in real life would be anything but comedic, even if they did deserve it.
5Kasuga Is Really Excited About Dating
Miss Match
The Miss Match substory would be cringe if it wasn’t so absurd with how hard it leans into the romance. You engage in a minigamewhere you chat it up with a potential date and then eventually meet them if you pass. What makes this so funny is Ichiban Kasuga’s excited reaction to typing on his phone and then rushing to the date.
If it is a real woman, a live-action scene plays out. However, sometimes it can be a catfish. Any other game would make this too thirsty and potentially problematic. In Infinite Wealth, it’s just funny.

4Grown Men In Diapers
Let It Snow Substory
Let It Snow is a touching substory about a man wanting to help his dying wife see snow one more time before passing. How can Kasuga possibly help him find snow in Hawaii? The answer comes in an unexpected place. While in the Anaconda Shopping Center, Kasuga has to chase down a runaway stroller as it miraculously twists and turns through the streets. This alone is hilarious but once you stop the stroller it sees the return of a character fromYakuza 7: Like a Dragon. Susuma Gondawara and his friends enjoy walking around in diapers and acting like babies. Kasuga and Gondawara resolve to shred the spare diapers and mix it with water to create the snowy effect.
2Dwight’s Death
Chapter Thirteen
As if the idea offighting a giant shark bossisn’t funny enough, the real punchline comes when Dwight Menendez is fleeing the fight on a small speedboat. You see him out in the distance as Yamai tells the party just to wait a bit. Then, the shark unceremoniously takes out the whole boat with Dwight inside it.
It’s the combination of how threatening he was up close with how he dies looking like a speck of dust on the TV screen that makes this so funny. Jokes like this that utilize camera placement, timing, and silence to make us laugh show just how sophisticated Infinite Wealth’s storytelling really is.

1The Ounabara Vocational School Substory
Certifiable Lover Substory
The Ounabara Vocational School substory starts with Ikari, who introduces Kasuga to the vocational school, being madly in love with Laura, the receptionist. This is after you learn he was relocated because of some issues with workplace harrassment. After completing all the tests, Ikari finally conjures up the confidence to confess his love for Laura.Unfortunately for him, she instead confesses her love for Kasuga. He runs away in tears, while it is heavily implied that the two get down to business right in the alley. After she leaves and Kasuga is alone in the Alley, Ikari returns with a machine gun. Ikari sprays bullets everywhere while Kasuga runs away and laments that “nothing good comes from studying after all.”
