The first half of the Tartarus' Arqa block is full of powerful Gatekeepers inPersona 3 Reload. The Heretic Magus is a tough Shadow that can strike hard with its strong array of wind spells. The two Grievous Tables accompanying this Shadow can really prolong this fight if you fail to deal with them first.
Luckily, The Heretic Magus won’t call for reinforcements if you eliminate their fiery cohorts first. However, this Shadow’s second-tier skills, like Garula, will spell trouble for your whole party, regardless of resistance. Exploiting the enemy’s weaknesses and activating multiple All-Out Attacks is key to winning this fight.

Affinities and Weaknesses (Grievous Table)
The Heretic Magus and the two Grievous Tables accompanying it willconstantly pelt you with a combination of Wind and Fire skills. These skills will severelyhinder Junpei’s use in this fight, as his Persona is weak to Wind skills. The Grievous Tables are alsocapable of blocking Fire skills, rendering his Fire skills useless.

One hit from Garula can be enough to knock Junpei unconsciousif you’re not careful. If the Heretic Magus gets a One More, they’re likely to follow up with a Magaru, ensuring that Junpei will be knocked down or defeated.
The Grievous Tables can infect your party with Poison, sobe sure to have some Dis-Poisons on hand or a Persona with Posumudi.Since no one in your party will have access to Ice skills to knock down the tables, you’llneed to prepare some Personas with Ice skills.
Heretic Magus Battle Strategy
Akihiko’s set of Electric skills are perfectfor dealing with the Heretic Magus.Yukari should focus on keeping the party healthy, especially if someone gets Poisoned or Junpei gets knocked down. If Junpei isn’t blocking, he shouldrely mainly on physical attacks like Vacuum Slashto help even the odds.
Since you’ll be dealing with multiple enemies, some with attacks that can target your entire party,Yukari’s Media skill is a must.Learned at Level 12,this skill allows Yukari to heal the whole partyas opposed to just one individual.
Focus on eliminating the Grievous Tables first, so they don’t end up Poisoning your whole party.Valkyrie and Jack Frost are great higher-leveled Personas that can cast Ice skills, but you’ll need to be mindful of their weakness to fire. You can also opt for Forneus, who’s a bit weaker, but is only weak to Electric skills.
Whenever you or Akihiko knock down an enemy, have them Shift to the other to set up an All-Out Attack. When it’s just the Heretic Magus left, have your protagonist switch to a Persona with Electric Skillsto continue preparing All-Out Attacks.
Zouchouten is a good high-level Persona with Electric Skills, but they are weak to Wind.Lilim and Omoikane are safer choices, being weak to Light and Darkness, respectively, but they are much weaker.
