Helldivers 2just released a patch that adds environmental challenges like fire tornadoes and meteor showers that will supposedly “appear at random”. But witha game master pulling the strings(we’re all looking at you, Joel), people are sceptical about just how random they’ll really be.
Meteor showersleaked only yesterday, along with a bunch of other environmental effects like sandstorms, volcanic activity, acid storms, thick fog, and earthquakes.
The patch notes also tease that “many more” hazards like these two have been added, but there’s no word on what they are. They could be the other leaked effects that dataminers found, but until we dive into the game and see them first-hand, we don’t know.
As for the rest of the update, developer Arrowhead has made balancing tweaks to the following weapons and stratagems, but no specifics were given on what exactly has been altered:
Aside from new features and balance tweaks, there are a slew of fixes included in the patch. Bug holes like stalker nests that were “unnecessarily hard to destroy” have been tweaked; an issue with throwing grenades after drowning has been fixed; you will now take damage from other players' fire and gas; armour “no longer stretches when dismembered”, and large assets won’t float in the air if the ground beneath has been blown up.You can read the full list of fixes here.
Arrowhead also listed a host of known issues that have yet to be fixed, but that the team is working on:
The patch is live now on PC, and it will launch on PS5 “soon”.
