Destiny 2’sannual spring event has returned in 2024 with some sweet new rewards. The Guardian Games have begun, encouraging each class to fight for medals and glory across a variety of Destiny 2’s ritual playlists. Competition is a core part of this event, and those who give it their all will earn some new weapons, cosmetics, and even a new vehicle type.
This year’s Guardian Games has made some minor changes to scoring, medal rarities, and has added Skimmer hoverboards to the game. If you want to cruise around in a slick hoverboard or expand your arsenal, the Guardian Games is an event you won’t want to miss. This guide will explain how Guardian Games works, how to earn Medallions, and cover some of this year’s new rewards.

What Is The Guardian Games Event?
The Guardian Games is a spring event that runs fromMarch 5 to March 26.Guardians are tasked with competing against one another to see which class is the best. Compete against your fellow Hunters, Warlocks, and Titans across all of Destiny 2’s core activities—Vanguard Ops, Crucible, Gambit, Nightfalls, Trials, and even seasonal content—to earn some exclusive rewards.
In gameplay terms,Guardian Games adds some new bounties and playlist activities that award Medallions, a currency you can exchange for Guardian Games rewards. These include exclusive weapons, cosmetics, and even a new vehicle type. Pick your favorite class, boot up a Guardian Games playlist, and earn medals to increase your class' collective score.

Best In Class Quest Guide
When you first visit the Tower, speak with Eva Levante in the Tower. She will give a brief overview of the Guardian Games and gift you a Guardian Games class item. You must equip the Guardian Games class item to earn certain rewards from this event, notably activity medals.
With the class item equipped, go ahead and purchase a bounty from Eva. These are calledContender Cardsand award special Medallions when completed. Go ahead and boot up a Guardian Games playlist and complete the bounty you purchased. Once complete, head back to the Tower and speak with Eva Levante. She will give you aMedallion Casewhich is used to track all of your class medals throughout the event.

All medallions you earn may be deposited at the class kiosk behind Eva Levante. Each medal you dunk will award Masterwork materials and/or Guardian Games weapons. The rarer the medal, the more rewards you’ll receive. Speak to Zavala and Shaxx once you’re done, and that will conclude the Best In Class quest for this year’s Guardian Games event.
Shoot To Score
Each week, Zavala will offer the “Shoot to Score” quest to all players. This quest requires you tocomplete Guardian Games: Competitive Nightfall missions and achieve certain score thresholds.Score values are broken down into the following tiers:
As you increase your score, you’ll be able to light torches in the Tower courtyard to earn some Guardian Games rewards. This quest may be completed once per character each week.

Vying For Supremacy
After the weekly reset, you may speak to Lord Shaxx in the Tower to acquire the “Vying for Supremacy” quest. Similar to Zavala’s quest, your goal is toearn score in the current Guardian Games PvP or Gambit playlists. The chosen playlist rotates each week. Score thresholds are as follows:
As you reach each score threshold, you may light torches in the Tower courtyard to acquire some Guardian Games weapons and Masterwork materials. Continue to play Supremacy until you complete every step in this quest. You may complete “Vying for Supremacy” on each character once per weekly reset.

Drop In
Eva Levante has a special gift for all Guardians this year: a Skimmer. The Skimmer is a hoverboard vehicle that can perform tricks, similar to the hoverboards used by the Cloudstriders on Neomuna. You will acquire one immediately upon completing the “Best in Class' quest, but you’re able to unlock an Exotic variant by completing the “Drop In” quest.
Unlike most quests in Destiny, you must completeanyof the three listed objectives to earn the Exotic Skimmer.

Medallion score is earned by dunking Medallions into the Guardian Games podium in the Tower. The rarer the medal, the more points you’ll earn. The Nightfall objective is self-explanatory. For the final objective,Focus Activity packages are earned by completing the active Focus Activity. This is listed at the top of the Tower map and is only active for a few hours. The higher your score, the better reward packages you’ll earn.
Earning Medallions And Score
Medallions are the main currency you’ll be earning throughout the Guardian Games. With a Guardian Games class item equipped, completing any Destiny 2 activity will award medals.Ritual content and most seasonal activities award Bronze or Silver medals, while Legend/Master content awards Gold medals. Rarer medals may be earned through Contender Cards, a system we cover in the next section.
Medal Case
You can view your current medals by inspecting the Medal Case item in your Quests tab. Up to five medals of each rarity may be carried at a time.
Once you have a surplus of medals, head to the Tower and dunk your medals at your class' respective flag. This will increase your personal and class score for the Guardian Games. A breakdown of Guardian Games' team scoring can be found in theFebruary 29 TWIDfor those interested.

Earning Medals
Medals are broken up into four rarities:
So long as you have a Guardian Games class item equipped, you’ll be earning the low-tier medals for your team, but the real rewards come from the last three rarities. In general, you’ll want to complete Contender Card bounties as often as possible, as these are your main source of Gold, Platinum, and Diamond medals.
Diamond medals are a new rarity type introduced in 2024’s Guardian Games, and they’re extremely limited in supply. You may earn two Diamond medals per week through Eva’s Diamond Contender Cards. These bounties ask you tocomplete raids, GM Nightfalls, and similar tough PvE activities with a full fireteam of the same class.

If you can’t play endgame content but still wish to contribute, you have an alternative. You may also earn one Diamond Medal per week by watching Destiny 2 on Twitch.Link your D2 account to your Twitch account, watch two hours of Destiny 2, and you should receive the Diamond medal as a Twitch drop. If you want additional Diamond medals, you’ll need to complete Diamond Contender Cards.
Contender Card Bounties
Contender Cards are back this year and function identically to past iterations.Eva Levante sells Guardian Games bounties called Contender Cards. Completing a Contender Card will award a rare Medallion. The harder the card, the rarer the medal you’ll receive. There are ten cards to choose from.
You may only hold one Gold, Platinum, and Diamond Contender Card at a time.

Teams that complete matches in the Focused Activity will also be earning points for their current class. The class with the highest score at the end of the Focus Activity will earn a Champion’s Package, awarding enough medals to fill your Medallion Case (excluding Diamond medals).
The Focus Activity lasts for two hours from Monday-Thursday, increased to three hours from Friday-Sunday.Once the Focus Activity expires, you’ll need to wait four hours for a new Focus Activity to appear.

How To Earn The Allstar Vector Vehicle
The Allstar Vector is a new vehicle type introduced in the Guardian Games 2024 event.A common variant of this vehicle is awarded from the “Best in Class” quest. You simply need to equip a Guardian Games class item, complete a Contender Card, and deposit a medal.
For the Exotic variant, you must complete the “Drop In” quest, which requires you to complete any one of these objectives:
We suggest completing the third objective for this vehicle, as it’s the fastest if you don’t mind waiting.Once a Favored Activity is active, enter the playlist and aim to get the highest score possible. With a high enough score, you’ll earn a package at the end of the Focus Activity. Repeat this two more times to finish the quest. Alternatively, you can aim for a top 10% score in a Guardian Games Nightfall.
Best Guardian Games Weapon Rolls
This year’s Guardian Games event has three weapons up for grabs, including the Hullabaloo, The TItle, and Taraxippos. Additionally, you’re able to also earn the Heir Apparent Catalyst by depositing medals throughout this event.Rarer medals are more likely to drop the Heir Apparent Catalyst.
Hullabaloo God Roll
Hullabaloo is a Wave Frame GL that takes up the Heavy slot, a subarchetype that specializes in clearing adds and majors. This weapon is subpar for single-target DPS rotations in raids and dungeons, but if you need to kill adds quickly, Hullabaloo has you covered.
This is currently the only weapon in the game that can roll withVoltshotandChain Reaction, an absurd combo that makes your grenades unleash chain lightning that can detonate enemy corpses. It’s nothing short of overkill, but if you’re using this gun to kill adds and nothing else, Hullabaloo is a great pick. With that said, Chain Reaction is so good that you can safely drop Voltshot forAuto-Loading Holsterfor some added quality-of-life.
For PvP, forget about this weapon. Machine Guns and standard GLs will serve you better.

The Title God Roll
Fans of 720 RPM SMGs might want to grab some rolls of The Title during this year’s Guardian Games. This SMG can roll withRepulsor BraceandSurrounded, a strong PvE combination that has excellent synergy with Volatile Rounds builds like Gyrfalcon Hunters. If you play melee builds,Grave RobberandSwashbuckleris a powerful alternative roll.
Crucible players have better SMG options to play with, but The Title is a decent option for New Lights or returning players.Dynamic Sway Reductioncan be paired withRangefinderto help with this weapon’s consistency across the board. If you dislike Rangefinder, you can opt to use Swashbuckler instead. It’s by no means a meta SMG, but it’s far from a bad weapon.

Taraxippos God Roll
Taraxippos hasn’t seen many changes in its perk pool this year, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. This 200 RPM Scout Rifle can get the infamous combo ofZen MomentandCascade Point, a devastating combination that gives this weapon a blazing fast 0.54s TTK after you land a kill with your other weapon. With the PvP Special ammo changes that launched with this year’s Guardian Games, double Primary loadouts are much more desirable.
For PvE content,Gutshot StraightandExplosive Payloadmake this weapon’s bodyshot damage far more forgiving, but you won’t be benefiting from any strong damage perks like Kill Clip or Precision Instrument. Scout Rifles are generally ignored in PvE outside of select Exotic variants, but fans of Scout Rifles might find something to love here.
