Final Fantasy 7 Rebirthoffers a staggering amount of content within its densely packed regions, giving you many personal moments with your favorite characters and a slew of optional quests that can help strengthen those bonds and elevate them to greater heights.
And, whether you love him or hate him, Chadley is back at it again, making Cloud and his friends jump through hoops to help improve his Combat Simulator or gather crucial intel on the region. This brings us to the Protorelic Phenomenon found in the Grasslands Region that is only obtainable after chasing a few familiar goons back to their hideout.

Grasslands Region - Phenomenon Intel 1: Wild Bandit Chase
Step one of obtaining the valuablePhenomenon Intelin theGrasslands Regionis to visit thelighthousein thenortheast cornerof the region. Once here, you will notice that thefront gate is locked,but walking around theright side of its lengthy fence will reveal an openingyou can enter through.
Now that you’re inside the fenceproceed past the lighthouse door to find scalable portions of the wallhighlighted in yellow.Climb the lighthousewall to stumble upon the one and onlyBeck’s Badasses,a group of bandits you may be familiar with from the previous installment.

After a brief dialogue exchange, Beck flees the scene with the Protorelic, leaving the rest of his crew behind as ‘Decoys.’ Here, you mustdefeat Butch, Burke, and Burt.While we recommend using the Assess Materia on them yourself to accumulate more data for Chadley, you’re able to get more information on them below!

Exploit his Weakness to Pressure him. Landing an attack as he sets a trap will instantaneously Stagger him.
He will eventually Pressure himself by performing powerful attacks like Wallop or Twister.

Grasslands Region - Phenomenon Intel 2: One Badass Barbeque
With the first step out of the way, it’s time to track down where Beck ran off with the Protorelic. Fortunately,Chadley can track it,having himping the location of it on your map,highlighting thepipelineas your next location.
Make your way toward the pipeline to seeBeck speaking with his crew while roasting various meatsover the fire. As you get closer, you willtransition into a short stealth section,having you sneak into a small metal room directly behind Beck.

Stealth Section Walkthrough
Hide behind the first set of rusted cratesand wait for theguard to the right to turn his backand begin walking away from you. From here,quickly move straight up the middleto the long set of rusted crates directly in front of the fire.
Head left and follow the pathway to a small bendin the crates where alone bandit is on watch.He will periodically rotate, facing toward you or away from you, looking toward the staircase.The moment the bandit turns his backto you,roll to the next set of crates.

Once here, you will notice abandit at the top of the staircase and two in front of you.While all of them can spot you, the one youreally have to worry about is theone from the last portion.When heturns his back toward you again, swiftly roll to the next set of crates.
Even if the bandit on the far right end spots you briefly, it won’t be enough for them to go on full alert. Once here, you canwalk around the side of the crates, roll into the room,and sneak up to the checkpoint!
Sneaking In/Combat Guide
After Beck and his goons make their way up the stairs and inside the small shack above to feast on their meal,head out the door you enteredandtake a right to find a climbable portion of the pipeline.Scale it to see aladderleading to the shack’s rooftop.
When here and appropriately prepared,drop down into the roomwith Beck’s Badasses. After another cutscene, you will be thrown intocombat against Butch and a Spearhawk.Butch will be handled the same way as earlier, but you can get more information on the Spearhawk below!
Grasslands Region - Phenomenon Intel 3: Diversionary Tactics
Seeing as Beck and his group of ‘Badasses’ got away again,Chadley will ping their location on your map,revealing that they headed to theAbandoned Republic Factory,northwest of their previous location.
Make your way to their new location and simplyhead to the right of the lengthy factory to find the door wide open.Make your way inside to activate another interaction between Cloud and Beck’s Badasses.
Combat Guide
After making youguess which of them has the Protorelic(choose the one on the left), they will swiftly flee the scene yet again, having ahandful of unnamed banditsambush Cloud and the rest of his party. TheseBandits share the exact same Weaknesses and Stagger Properties as Butch and Burke!
Key Location
With the group of Bandits dispatched you will betasked with looking for a Key.Fortunately for you,your trusty Chocobo can sniff out its location!To do this,call your Chocoboby pressingR1,thenpress and hold Upon theD-Padto have the Chocobo begin sniffing.
YourChocobo will pick up a scent,leading you outside of the Abandoned Republic Factory. Once outside,follow the scent trailup the pathway.Holding Up on the D-Pad once more will have your Chocobo pinpoint the locationof the Key, highlighting a dig spot on the ground with a bright blue light.
Make your way over to the dig spot andhold Down on the D-Padtohave your Chocobo’Scour' the area,digging up the Keythe Bandits have buried!
Grasslands Region - Phenomenon Intel 4: Taking Care Of Business
Finally, with the Key in your possession,Chadley will ping The Hideouton your map, marking the final spot of this long journey to obtain the Protorelic. To reach its location,fast-travelto the ‘Kalm Air-Raid Shelter’ point on your map, thenhead up the narrow trail to the rightof the shelter’s doorway.
Use the Key on the rusty door andfollow the trail all the way up to The Hideout,but watch out for ahandful of Orcson your way. Make your way to thefront of The Hideout and approach the barely-opened garage doorto have Cloud pass underneath it.
Inside Of The Hideout
Once finallyinside The Hideout, Beck and his group of bandits will be playing deadin the center of the room.As soon as you enter The Hideout, look to the right to discover a lever.Make your way over to the lever andhold Triangle on itto drop a comically large crate onto Beck’s Badasses.
This willtrigger yet another slew of dialogue between Cloud and Beck’s Badasses,providing you withsome dialogue choicesthat willculminate with another combat encounterno matter what you choose.
After failing to negotiate with Beck and his goons, they willactivate a Modded Sweeperand will jump in on the action themselves, making it afierce battlebetween your party andBeck, Butch, Burke, Burt, and the Modded Sweeper.
Butch, Burke, and Burt are all handled the same wayfrom the previous encounters, andBeck shares the same stats as Butch and Burke,so apply the same methods against him as you would them. Thereal problem of this encounter is the Modded Sweeper,which you may learn more about in the table below!
Exploiting its Weaknesses will significantly Pressure it. Destroying its Arms will cause it to lose access to many of its most powerful attacks.
Mission Complete
Upondefeating Beck’s Badasses and the Modded Sweeper,you will be tossed into yet another series of dialogue that hasCloud paying 2,000 Gil for the Protorelicto help Beck and his gang ‘turn a new leaf.’ After a few more closing words between Cloud and Beck, you willfinally acquire the Protorelic,triggering a cutscene that makes all this effort worthwhile!
