Summary

If you’re anAvatar: The Last Airbenderfan, chances are you were looking forward to the recently launchedFortnitecollaboration that has seen Aang, Zuko, Katara, and Toph (sorry Sokka) head to the island. All four characters have been added to the Item Store to celebrate the collaboration, along with some emotes and Avatar-themed items, but many players have been coming away furious after seeing the prices.

Shortly after the skins were added to the Item Store, fans took to Reddit to complain about developer Epic Games “overpricing” them to a ridiculous degree, charging 2,000 V-Bucks per character. For example, user Vincenzodrawscriticizes Epic for not “valuing” its players, and begs the publisher to stop overpricing collaboration skins as V-Bucks don’t “fall from the sky.”

Vincenzodraws isn’t the only fan with these complaints either, as user Kiritophantomhiveposted a similar commentfurious about the pricing of the Avatar skins that has received a similar amount of support from fellow players. In the comments to this Reddit post, players call the pricing “absolutely bats*** insane”, and also criticize Epic for not including any Style Edits alongside the original skins like was seen in previous collaborations like Dragon Ball.

Rarity Changes Haven’t Gone Down Well Either

Both users also complain about the recent changes to rarity in Fortnite’s shops, as the publisher decided to get rid of rarity completely in the most recent update. Epic has been accused of deliberately removing rarity colors in an attempt to “get away with overcharging for lower tier cosmetics”, and that the bundles Epic included in the Avatar collaboration wouldn’t be as much if the old rarity system was in place.

In a reply to Kiritophantomhive’s post, an Epic employee going by the username EmptyTux explained that the way each bundle has been priced has nothing to do with the rarity changes, and that color indicators were removed as Epic wants to “simplify Fortnite’s appearance across the Locker.” Given their comment has been downvoted to oblivion, it’s safe to say that Fortnite players aren’t convinced, especially when user Clydefrooog points out “no one asked for rarities to be removed” in the first place.
