Capcomhas fiveResident Evilgames in development right now, according to a leaker. One of these games is said to be Resident Evil 9, following on fromResident Evil Village’s launch in 2021.

This comes from the insider known as Dusk Golem, who tends to be reliable on horror game releases, particularly from Capcom. Now, he says that Capcom is going all out on the Resident Evil series, working on four other games while it develops its next main instalment.

As reported byEurogamer, a Discord message from Dusk Golem was shared on theGaming Leaks and Rumours subreddit. Here, the leaker says, “Yup, I know of 5 RE games in dev right including RE9”.

While not shedding much light on what we can expect from these projects, he once again referred to Capcom’s plans for Resident Evil in a separate message. “BTW, I got a f**king big update on a Resident Evil project literally yesterday, and I’m really excited for it,” says Dusk Golem. “But it won’t be releasing until late 2026 or early 2027 most likely. So to just hold my tongue for now [sic].”

While it’s not a new game,Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition is launching on February 9. This bundles together Resident Evil 4 Remake and Separate Ways.

It isn’t clear if this late 2026/early 2027 release is Resident Evil 9 or one of the other games that Capcom apparantly has in the works. However, Resident Evil Village is already turning three this year, so many fans will be hoping that the follow-up comes a little sooner than that.

So, what else can we expect from this series? At least one other remake is expected, since the Separate Ways DLC forResident Evil 4 Remaketeased a re-release of Resident Evil 5. That still leaves us with three unknown Resident Evil games in the works.Fans will be hoping that one of them is Code: Veronica, but since we’ve already skipped that in the Remake timeline, we might not want to hold our breath for this.

Nothing was unveiled at either of the recent showcases fromPlayStationandXbox, but admittedly, Capcom will be a little busy preparing to launchDragon’s Dogma 2right now. After that, perhaps we’ll hear some more about these Resident Evil projects that are supposedly in development.
