Summary
Falloutis a big deal again. In its defense, the series is big enough that it’s always somewhat relevant. However, after nothing but the often dismissedFallout 76for almost a decade, Amazon’s adaptation was much-needed. It has reminded Fallout fans just how good some of the games that came before Fallout 76 are, and also given a slew of new fans a reason to go back and try them out. If your starting point is going to beFallout 4, you can currently pick it up onPlayStationorXboxfor just $4.99.
That’s a heck of a lot of game if you want it to be for not a lot of money, and even thoughBethesdais now an Xbox-owned studio, the deal has been applied to thePS4version of the game too. Even better, buying the game now - again, regardless of your chosen platform - will get youthe current-gen update when it’s rolled out on April 25. The closest thing we’re going to get to a new Fallout game for a very long time that will upgrade its visuals and fix an array of unspecified issues.

The deal for Fallout 4 on Xbox and PlayStation is set to end on April 25, so the day that the current-gen update will be rolled out, which is certainly not a coincidence. The game will likely return to full price at that point since footage from the update will be shared left and right, and even more people will be returning to it or playing for the first time. Fallout 76 hasalready been enjoying record player counts, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Fallout 4 experience the same on or soon after April 25.
Fallout 4
WHERE TO PLAY
Fallout 4’s vast open world and base building mechanics added complex layers to the series that were never there before. A massive game with so much to do, and right now it’s on sale for just $5.
Even though Fallout 76 deservedly gets a bad rap, the multiplayer take on the series set before the events of all the other games has improved massively since its launch in 2018. Credit to Bethesda for continuing to update the game despite the bad things people have had to say about it. A resurgence in Fallout interest now means people are giving the game a second chance and discovering just how much better it has become.
The only real downside to all of this is giving Fallout 76 a second chance and playing a polished version of Fallout 4 is the closest we’re going to get to a new video game Fallout experience for a very long time. While Bethesda has confirmed there will be aFallout 5, the studio’s focus won’t shift to it until developers are done withThe Elder Scrolls 6. The follow-up toSkyrimis still years away from release which means a new Fallout game is likely still the better part of a decade away, at best.
