In every RPG, you’ll typically find three common classes: a strength-based class relying on close combat, an archer proficient with bows for long-range attacks, and a sorcerer wielding magical powers to defeat enemies.Dragon’s Dogma 2follows this principle and more.
Among the various vocations available in the game, Sorcerers stand out as heavy damage dealers. However, mastering this class and maximizing its potential may require some practice. In this guide, we’ll cover everything you need to know about the Sorcerer vocation, from its strengths and weaknesses to its skills.

Strengths And Weaknesses Of The Sorcerer Vocation
Strengths
TheSorcerer vocationis anupgraded version of the Magein the game. They’re quite similar, but Sorcerersfocus more on dealing heavy damage and inflicting debilitations on enemies. Their specialty lies in casting spells andengaging in long-range combat.
Sorcerers excel athandling multiple enemies simultaneously with their area-of-effect magick spells, dealing significant damage while maintaining a safe distance.

When you have another Sorcerer in your party, you can both cast the same spell simultaneously. Thisreduces casting time, enabling more powerful spells and quicker enemy disposal.
Weaknesses
Spellsrequire some time to be cast, leaving Sorcerers vulnerableduring the incantation process. Although you’re able to move while casting,it prolongs the spell’s casting time. Thus, it’s crucial to maintain distance from enemies to minimize risks.
In open-world combat, Sorcerers excel, but in confined spaces like caves, where close-range combat is common, they’re at a disadvantage. Since they struggle with close-range engagements and their spells take time to cast, you’ll heavily rely on your pawns for support.

Not only that, but your lower defenses make you more susceptible tointerruptions in spellcasting or getting knock down, so staying at a safe distance is key to counter that.
That is why the Sorcerer should always stay in the backline during battles.
