The Mastery Pass is the best way to maximize the rewards you get from your games, giving you bonusgold, packs, and cosmeticswhile you earn XP. If you’re looking to get to the bottom of the biggest case in Ravnica’s history, we have everything you need to know about both the free and paid tracks, and how to make the most of your games.

What Is The Magic: The Gathering Arena Mastery Pass?
The Magic: The Gathering Arena Mastery Pass is thebest way you can earn rewards for playing games with friends and strangers. You progress through one of two tracks by finishing quests, leveling up, and winning games, taking home anything from packs from across various sets, gems, gold, card styles, draft tokens, and even pets.
The two-track element of the Mastery Pass lets players control how they want to approach each set. The first track that is available to all players automatically is the Set Mastery track and is completely free to start. You’ll earn fewer rewards but still a healthy amount over time. The second is the Mastery Pass, which requires you to pay 3,200 gems to access, which works out to be around $19.99 before tax. There’s also an option to get a bonus ten starting levels if you pay 5,400 gems but it is not necessary.

Both Set and Mastery Passes are available for about one set release, giving you a total of a little more than two months to complete them. The timing can be different, since each Mastery season lasts until the next Standard set’s release date. The next set to release is Outlaws of Thunder Junction, which is expected to release on Jun 12, 2025.
No matter when you decide to purchase the Mastery Pass, you’ll have access to all the rewards you have already passed in the game. So if you want to wait to see if you’re able to make it to the end of the Set Pass before purchasing the Mastery one, you can, gaining all the rewards you would have earned as soon as they’re available.

Intermingled between all the other rewards are the Master Orbs. These special items are available in both the Set and Mastery Pass, letting youunlock special cosmeticsincluding card styles and sleeves of just a few of the suspects from the set. You’ll earn five of these Orbs through the Set Pass, and then 30 with both active.
How To Level Up The Mastery Pass
Leveling up through the Mastery Pass is super easy, all you have to do is play in games and you’ll get there eventually. The fastest way to progress through the various levels is bycompleting daily quests. These once-a-day quests will ask you to do different things in the game, like playing lands, attacking, destroying enemy creatures, playing spells of a specific color, and more, to earn gold and XP. You can stockpile quests if you can’t complete one in a day or two, up to a max of three, but after that you’ll start losing out.
One of the best things you’re able to do to helpmaximize your rewards is to reroll your quests, not just because you might not have the right deck available now to meet the conditions, but because you get a chance to earn more rewards in exchange for a more difficult quest.

If you really want to, you’re able to also pay 250 gems to give your Masery Pass a one level boost, but unless you’re a level or two short from a reward you really want and the pass is about to expire, you shouldn’t have any difficulties reaching the max level.
Past these quests, the next best way to earn XP while you play is through theDaily and Weekly Wins system. Each of these systems lets you earn a depreciating amount of rewards for winning games each day, and then over the course of a week. The Daily Wins bonuses will let you walk away with 250 XP every day, along with 750 gold and 6 individual card rewards. Completing the Weekly Wins system will have you walking away with 250 XP for each competitive game you win, granting you a total of 3,750, almost four levels worth of XP every week.

The Murders At Karlov Manor Mastery Pass

At the end of the day, we found that it has a grand total of 54 levels for the Set Mastery track, while the Mastery Pass has 70, plus the ability to earn uncommon cards for each level past that. Traversing through each level requires earning 1000 XP, which isn’t too difficult to do every other day or so.
Keeping to just the Set Mastery pass for Murders at Karlov Manor will let you walk away with27 Murders at Karlov Manor packsas well as 5 Mastery Orbs, letting you pick and choose with path of the Mastery Tree you want to take, though it isn’t enough to completely finish a branch.

If you decide the Mastery Pass is more worth your while, you’ll be walking away with a lot more rewards.
