Helldivers 2offers players weapons and Stratagems to use against Terminids and Automaton enemy types in the game. While you get Stratagems by leveling up and using Requisition Slips to purchase them, their upgrades are unlocked by investing Samples, another in-game resource or currency.
Samples must be obtained to get new ship upgrades and get top-notch support. This becomes vital to success when you start playing on Impossible or Helldive difficulty. Ship Module upgrades are the only way to strengthen all Stratagems you carry in your loadout. This guide entails all Sample types and how to get each one of them in the game.
All Sample Types
Samples in Helldivers 2 come in three rarities: Common (Green), Rare (Orange), and Rarer (Pink). The green ones spawn in large numbers per map and they are commonly found near facility buildings, destroyed bug holes, and near egg nests.
EachSample type plays an important role in unlocking Stratagems upgrades. This can be accessed while navigating the Ship Module section found in the Ship Management.
Common Green Samples
TheEradicate missions usually have seven Green Samplesthat you’re able to collect every ten minutes. Afew Eradicate missions have 15 Green Samplesthat you can collect in ten minutes before the mission timer ends.
TheBlitz and Attack missions allow you to collect more Samplesper run but these mission types come with a large map size to explore. This increases the time to collect Samples and there are high chances you’re able to miss a few. Therefore,Eradicate missions are best at collecting Green Samplesin the game.
Green Samples will start appearing in missions with difficulty levels Easy and above.
Rare Orange Samples
TheOrange Samples are mostly found after clearing bug nests. Usually clearing amedium and large-sized bug nest spawns the Rare Samplesfor you to collect. The area near the Egg Nests is also a favorite spot to find and loot Orange Samples and for that, you do not always have to destroy eggs first for the Samples to spawn.
Rare Orange Samples will only start appearing by playing missions with difficulty level four and above.
Rarer Pink Samples
Theeasiest place to get the Rarer Pink Samples in Helldivers 2 is by destroying Spore Spewers. Once it is destroyed, theRarer Pink Samples usually spawn around the damaged structure. You can carry up to three Rare Pink Samples per mission though so there is not much opportunity to get these in high quantity per run.
Rarer Pink Samples can only be collected if you play missions with difficulty level seven and above, which includes, Suicide, Impossible, and Helldive difficulties.
How To Bank Samples
Samples are not a permanent currencythat stays with your diver after looting it from Terminid or Automaton planets. Instead,you need to extract while holding a certain number of these to storethem permanently. This is the only way to bank Samples and these areshared in every mission between party members.
If you die, all of your Samples will be lost and you or someone else will need to collect them back before leaving the mission.
How To Use Samples
Touse the collected Samples, interact with the ship computerthat is found opposite the cryo chamber. Interact with it toopen the Ship Management and then go to Ship Module. You will find various upgrade types that you can get by spending various Sample types.
