The world of Final Fantasy 7 is packed with gorgeous locations, though perhaps none more idyllic than Costa del Sol. The coastal town sports gorgeous beach views and plenty of shops, butFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirthintroduces a smattering of minigames to the area as well.

Each minigame brings with it its own challenges and gameplay style, allowing for a brief respite from the narrative’s high stakes. You may even find yourself pouring too much time into them! Mastering every minigame before you depart this beautiful town is well worth your time, earning you some valuable items and gear for your journey.

Red XIII playing Run Wild in Costa del Sol

Run Wild

Run Wild is essentially soccer(or football, if you must), except you have four goals and control Red XII instead of a human.

There are two variations of this game. The first is a free-for-all, which you’ll encounter during the main story. It’s very straightforward:score more goals than your opponents.

Pirate’s Rampage in Costa del Sol

This can be tricky becauseyou have to find opportunities to strike at your opponents while still playing effective defense. This task onlybecomes more complicated as more balls are introducedto the arena.

Your opponents are generally slow-moving, so you can effectivelycamp in your own goal and take long shotsat others. As the match progresses and you near victory, you can focus exclusively on offense, since the other animals won’t be able to make up the score deficit.

Different placings for a free-for-all match will reward you as follows:

The second version of Run Wild is unlocked after completing theRendezvous in Costa del Solquest. It’s a time trial modein which you will be asked toscore eight goals as quickly as possible.

Card Carnival in Costa del Sol

The catch is thatthe balls are colored and must be shot into their corresponding goals, and after the first four have been scored, obstacles will appear around the environmentto make it more challenging.

Prizes are dolled out for finishing the time trial at different speeds:

You can get through free-for-all simply by running to balls and shooting, but the time trial requires a bit more tact. After obstacles begin to show up in the arena, there will becertain goals that can only be scored by using the lob shot.

Stop sprinting andcarefully position yourself some distance from your targetso lobs will soar gracefully over any obstructions and into the back of the net.

Pirate’s Rampage

Pirate’s Rampage isa first-person shooting minigamewhere you hit various targets to earn a high score. These targets can be stationary or mobile, andsome of them take multiple shots to break, requiring you to hammer R2. Watch out for hand cramps!

You’re awarded different prizes for meeting certain point thresholds:

Just like Run Wild, completing Rendezvous in Costa del Sol unlocks a second version of the minigame. This time, your aim is significantly more important, asevery missed shot will deduct points from your total score. Stay calm andtake a breath; the targets are on the screen much longer than you would think.Carefully navigate the cursor to each of them and shoot, not taking any chances on particularly elusive ones.

The challenge in the second round is certainly increased, but so have the quality of the rewards:

Be on the lookout forpurple targets. They reward patient players, flipping around after a few moments and offering significantly more points!

Wheelie Rendezvous

Wheelie Rendezvous is unique in that itcan only be completed during the events of the story. While playing as Tifa and Aerith, you’ll be asked to recover wheelies, transportation devices similar to segways.

There arethree different colors (red, yellow, and blue),and theymust be brought back to their respective parking lot. Thankfully, errant wheelies can befound in the area immediately surrounding these lots. After returning all of them, you’ll be rewarded with a companion card, which allows the girls to purchase a swimsuit and head to the beach.

Card Carnival And Cactuar Caper
