After slaying Malenia over 6,000 times in his over 1,200 hours inElden Ring, the iconic Let Me Solo Her is hanging up the pot once and for all.

“I’ve had my fill of fighting Malenias,” he toldIGN, adding that it was a “great joy” to help so many Tarnished brave one of the game’s toughest fights.

That being said,he might return to helpif there’s a difficult DLC boss, but it’s all dependent on how Shadow of the Erdtree goes. “Everyone knows that FromSoft likes to make the DLC bosses the strongest (for example, Gael),” he said. “I welcome the challenge and hope newer fans of the genre will also enjoy the difficulty as well. I’m not too sure if I will solo the newest boss yet. I will have to see what the boss will be like.”

FromSoftware revealed last week that the boss fights in Shadow of the Erdtree will be “on equal footing” with Malenia, so if Let Me Solo Her sticks to his retirement, we’ll be left to conquer the DLC on our own… unless other players pick up the torch - we’ve already seen a few imitators, and there are more than enough tough looking bosses in the trailer alone to build a legacy off of.

Failing that,players have been calling for a Let Me Solo Her NPC. Whether it’s a silent, brooding summon or a Spirit Ash, fans want to immortalise this community member and use his talents even if he’s not around to help himself. If the Mimic is anything to go by, a Spirit Ash based on a player renowned for killing Malenia over and over again would be a tough summon to beat.

Whatever ends up happening, retirement is more than a fair end for Let Me Solo Her. Not only did he slaughter Malenia over 6,000 times, but he also completed a version of the game in whichevery single enemy was replaced with Malenia. For his efforts, he gota drink named after him, a mod thatadds him to the game, anda “special gift” from developer FromSoftware itself.

Shadow of the Erdtree is launching on June 21, later this year, so there’s plenty of time to get ready for the DLC and help other players out along your way. Maybe we’ll even see Let Me Solo Him crop up in honour of Let Me Solo Her, ready to take down Messmer for all the Tarnished who need the help.
