Summary

Unsurprisingly, you’ll spend most of your time inDragon’s Dogma 2surrounded by yourpawns. They’re there to command as you see fit, and that won’t change if you’re an awful leader. They’ll follow their Arisen throughout the game - even if you get your kicks from chucking them off a cliff and into the sea.

That’s right, Dragon’s Dogma 2 brings back the ability to lob your pawns as far as you can throw them. We were quick to discover this in our own playthroughs, with one of my colleagues wasting no time in sharing a clip of one of their pawns going for a swim.

The best part is, of course, the fact that he comes out with a voice line as he disappears into the distance. It’s beyond silly, and it’s perfect. It’s also downright cruel, but who cares? The other pawns don’t seem to mind, and the victim in this case is probably a bit too busy trying not to drown to hold much of a grudge.

Frankly, you might really feel the urge to fling the poor guys in the nearest body of water after playing the game for a while. As we’ve also reported today, the pawns in Dragon’s Dogma 2 are even chattier than they were in the first game. They have something to say about literally anything that happens in your playthrough, but they really, reallylike to tell you about any nearby ladders they spot. They’re also weirdly obsessed with commenting on the gender composition of your party, so expect to have it pointed out if you’re travelling with all dudes or just ladies.

This won’t be too surprising to returning players though, as pawns were hardly quiet in the first game either. Perhaps that’s why videos of pawn-tossing have been shared around for years now - something which Dragon’s Dogma 2 is hardly trying to put a stop to.

If you want to jump in and fling some innocents off a cliff yourself, Dragon’s Dogma 2 is out on March 22, this Friday. A demo is out now thatlets you use the game’s character creator. Whatever characters you make can be saved as your Arisen or your main pawn and used in the full game. Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
