The realm ofDragon’s Dogma 2takes you into a world filled with epic adventure, an intricate character customization system, and rich lore. However, this journey isn’t just about slaying ferocious beasts or conquering sprawling landscapes. Capcom, like most developers, sprinkled an extra element of exploration and did not hold back in adding playful winks to be discovered by the most vigilant Arisen.

With the game’s immersive open-world setting, it is easy to miss some of these gems because of how well some are hidden (which is the whole point anyway). The following are some of the Easter eggs and hidden details you can look out for the next time you play DD2.

7Devil May Cry Reference

There is a surprisingly subtle nod to a fan-favorite game,Devil May Cry, in Dragon’s Dogma 2. As you delve into theriddles posed by the Sphinx, you will encounter this particular Easter egg where, in one of the riddles, the Sphinx will give you the task of finding a specific NPC.

You will realize, however, that the NPC you are supposed to find is one of a pair of twins. They are identical, with only subtle differences if you are a keen-eyed observer. When you find the twins, you will see that one of them is known as Dante, and the other is known as Vergil, which is a fun reference to the two demon hunters in Devil May Cry.

You will find Dante wandering around Checkpoint Rest Town on the Vermund side, and Vergil can be found in Bakbattahl, although they do not look like the twins in Devil May Cry.

6Kratos Lookalike

In theA Candle In The Storm quest, you are tasked with a mission of finding out the person attempting to assassinate the Empress of Battahl, Nadinia. The quest takes you to a prison where you are supposed to get information from an assassin held in a prison.

At this prison, you will come across an individual known as Ashe (Coral Snake), whom you can have a limited interaction with. While he does not play a major role in this quest,he bears a striking resemblance toKratos fromGod Of Warwith his large physique and distinct red markings on his face and body, and even his shaved head.

5Catapults Can Unlock Hidden Pathways

Using catapults in the game is fairly common, but did you know you could alsouse catapults to unlock hidden pathways? You can take these seemingly inactive war machines, position them at strategic locations, and use them to lob projectiles at walls or certain areas to reveal hidden areas.

The game does not explicitly show this functionality, but a well-placed shot can even unlock entirely new sections of the map. However, launching your Pawns or any other NPC off of a catapult is not possible — no matter how tempting it might be!

4Waterfall Cave

There is a hidden detail that can be found in the Waterfall Cave. The cave itself can be found on the eastern side of theBorderwatch Outpost settlement.you may start your journey at theNorthern Vermund Checkpointand head towards Melve, where you will find a path leading to the waterfall, where you will find the entrance to the cave.

Once you are inside the waterfall, you can explore it where you will come across a destructible wall. The wall may be a bit tough to find, but when you do, you should destroy it, which will reveal a secret passage filled with consumables, gold, hiddenFerrystone, andWakestone.

3Fourth Wall Break

Sometimes, you may come across some characters who break the fourth wall and indirectly acknowledge the fact that they are in a game or rather a simulated environment with predetermined outcomes.

One instance of this is from your interaction with the Rivage Elder, who can be found along the shores of Harve Village. If you pay attention to what he says, you will hear him mention that the world you are currently in is not the real one and that some events repeat themselves endlessly, with entities such as the Brine preventing one from venturing freely beyond.

2Pawns Can Catch You If You Fall

Fall damage in any game isn’t something we all like, and this is especially true in Dragon’s Dogma 2, given its immense scale and towering landscapes. Luckily, the game has a unique way to mitigate this by letting your pawn break your fall.

This allows you to roam the world much more freely and even creates interesting avenues for creative gameplay and exploration. A good application of this iswhen you ride a Griffin; given that there is no way to control it when it inevitably throws you off its back, you can survive.

The pawns can catch you regardless of the height of your fall. However, keep in mind that this does not work every time, and the pawn has to be directly underneath you to catch you.

1Naming Your Character May Trigger Additional Interaction

Character creation is one of the game’s core mechanics, but depending on how you choose to name your character, it may lead to interesting interactions with other NPCs. This, however, does not work for all names but specific names with pop culture references.

One reference that may trigger this is if you name the character Alucard, who is a famous vampire character from Castlevania. You may hear a blacksmith mention that they are making an Alucard-style sword, which is a whimsical connection between the game and the wider gaming universe.
