Amiibocollectors are in limbo right now as the future ofNintendo’s interactive figures hasn’t been revealed.Sora’s Smash Ultimate amiibo was released last monthand it seems likely that will be the last one we get during theSwitchera. Not only because Nintendo seems set to announce its next console any day now, but also because it has been reprinting various older amiibo, giving collectors a second chance to grab them.
The next amiibo getting the reprint treatment are Cloud andSonic. Both getting their own amiibo due to their inclusion inSuper Smash Bros, the iconic video game characters have been hard to find in amiibo form for the past few years, unless you’re willing to pay through the nose via a resale site. TheFinal Fantasy 7and Sonic protagonists are now easy to come by once again for a limited time as pre-orders for their reprinted amiibo are now available at Best Buy.

Each of the amiibo is $15.99 and can be pre-ordered by using the links in the boxes below. They each have a release date of July 21, 2025. Still more than a month away which is a good thing and a bad thing. Although it means waiting a while until they’ll be with you, it likely means the amiibo are being made to order and won’t sell out. That’s not guaranteed though so if you do want Cloud and Sonic’s amiibo, I’d pre-order them now rather than later.
Cloud Super Smash Bros. Amiibo
Cloud’s amiibo is based on the iconic Final Fantasy 7 hero’s look in Super Smash Bros. Scanning the figure unlocks a version of Cloud you’re able to train, as well as bonuses you can claim once a day.
It could be the last chance you have to get them for a normal price whether amiibo are going away at the end of the Switch era or not. Whether Nintendo starts releasing new amiibo compatible with its next console or bids adieu to the figures in 2025, it seems unlikely it will reach this far back into its amiibo catalog again for re-releases. Unless we go through this all over again seven years from now at the end of Nintendo’s next console generation.

Sonic Super Smash Bros. Amiibo
Sonic sped into Super Smash Bros. years ago, and that means the blue blur now has his own amiibo. Scan it while playing Smash Ultimate to unlock a trainable Sonic, and keep scanning it for daily bonuses.
Sonic and Cloud join a growing list of amiibo returns now that the Switch’s amiibo run appears to have come to an end. Best Buy also hasZelda and Ganondorf’s figures back in stock, andMonster Hunter Stories 2 amiibohave been re-released to celebrate the original game getting a Switch port this summer.
