Summary
For a rogue-like that closely resembles the likes ofHadesandVampire Survivors, Death Must Die features a cast of colorful heroes and gods. It delivers an experience that satisfyingly showcases the best features of the video games it takes inspiration from. It’s fast-paced yet challenging enough to keep you occupied for hours on end.
You’re essentially tasked with putting Death out of his misery, and you have five heroes at your disposal to get the job done. As time progresses, your chances of survival get slimmer by the second, and leveling up your heroes is crucial to tackling the rising difficulty. Hence, you need the right hero to win a skirmish with Death. Each hero’s play style varies, so knowing what they’re capable of can help you win faster.

5Merris
Nimble Yet Trigger-Happy
Merris is a spell-caster and her style of combat makes her a perfect ranged unit who’s only capable of defensive play, since her base attack power is rather low. She can snipe away at enemies indiscriminately, but aiming with her gets a little tricky, especially when you’re swarmed with beefy enemies.
Merris is a weak character to start off your run with, so attempt to accumulate as many blessings as you can whilst interacting with anything you find in your environment for buffs.

With the right buffs, her powers can potentially become a lot more useful, especially if her spells get bigger, and she can phase through multiple enemies. She’s a tough character to play with, and accumulating experience during the early game with her can be quite a challenge for new players.
Herspells can be powerfulagainst weaker foes, but without the right build, you’re able to get easily overwhelmed, even by weak skeletons. Playing her will require a balanced set of skills and blessings that focus on multiplying her attacks and amping up her defensive abilities.

4Kront
Strong Will But Slow Movement
A big tank like Kront may have tons of health, but it comes at the cost of reduced speed and attack damage. He’s a balanced character who is easy to build up into an unstoppable behemoth, as long as you choose the right blessings.
Kront’s attack speed is low, so ensure you focus on your positioning while you attack. Maneuvering around the battlefield is a huge part of successfully surviving with this character.

Investing into his overall speed and evasiveness makes him a lot more viable. He can attack in all directions, so he comes in handy when you’re getting swarmed by weak enemies from all sides. His slow speed does, however, hinder your progress when you come face to face with the mini-bosses.
Despite being able to attack in almost every direction, his AoE is still relatively small compared to other heroes like Avoron and Skadi. Don’t expect to get too far on your first run with him.

3Skadi
An Honorable Knight Worth Her Mettle
As kind and well-mannered as Avoron is, Skadi can give that knight a run for his money. She’s just as talented with a sword and, with a decent swing speed, she can plow down foes just as effectively. Her AoE is just as large as Avoron’s and yet her base damage still leaves a lot to be desired.
Skadi is a well-balanced character but attempt to buy or set aside the right kind of armor for her to raise up her base stats as well.
Skadi’s a tough hero to quest with, and to properly utilize her, you’re going to need to do a few runs and equip her well to get through a run. She’s at least a bit faster than Avoron so you may accumulate experience a lot quicker without having to leave yourself open to attacks.
For adept players, she’s a good alternative to the main cast of heroes, even though she has the same amount of health points as most of the others. Her skills make her one ofthe best female charactersto play with.
2Nixi
Quick And Deadly But Tricky To Play With
Nixi’s a playful soul who’s not very friendly with men or people in general at times. Despite that, her fighting style kind of contradicts her demeanor with others and somewhat highlights her strong will and personality.
Since you’re expected to get close to your enemies to execute them, attempt to use Nixi’s speed to your advantage and keep moving in order to avoid any unnecessary hits.
She’s a close-range fighter, who is capable of quick successive strikes with her knives. Her speed is decent and her barrage of attacks in one fell swoop justifies her low damage output without any buffs. She’s more suited to intermediate or beginner-level players.
With the right build, she’s someone who can help you progress through each round pretty easily. The only caveat to playing as her is that you are susceptible to accumulating a lot more damage compared to other tankier heroes like Kront or Avaron, since she’s a light armor class individual.
1Avaron
Balanced, As All Things Should Be
Avaron is the first hero you get familiar with, and he’s the stereotypical knight. A heavy hitter with a giant sword that he uses to cut down his enemies. He’s pretty good at handling swarms of enemies, and his base attack speed is fairly decent compared to the other characters like Nixi or Kront.
The Goddess of Fire’s Vengeful Strike along with Mort’s Necromancy is a shoo-in combination that overwhelms any enemy.
He’s a well-balanced character who’s pretty useful for beginners and experts alike. His personality is inquisitive, and he seems like an individual with a strong sense of justice. With the right buffs and equipment, you may use him to beat a run and last longer. He’s an easy character to progress with andvery beginner-friendly.
Since he has high AoE damage, collecting experience from fallen enemies isn’t as tough as compared to doing that with other ranged units. Although, with stronger enemies, you might have a tough time evading their attacks as you slowly but surely chip away at their health.
